Weekly Update
August 8th, 2023
April 7-11, 2025
Message From the Principal
We completed Science State Assessments this week with our 5th and 8th graders, we have a few make-ups to do but that is it. We appreciate the students for putting forth effort on their science tests and hope the strong effort continues as we move into ELA this coming week.
With ELA our schedule will be different to allow for students to have more time to read the passages and answer the questions. We will have a block schedule with fun activities in the afternoon to help students rest their brains after they put forth all of their effort on their tests.
Monday and Wednesday will be Odd hours and Tuesday and Thursday will be even hours. If you have any appointments coming up and want to make sure your student won't be testing for them please reach out and we can let you know when they will be testing.
At home you can help your students be ready to do their best by making sure they get a good nights sleep and eat a hearty breakfast to fuel their brains. Encourage your students to take their time on their test and give their best efforts. We will be rewarding students throughout our testing season when we catch them taking their time and giving their best efforts!
Upcoming Tests
April 14-18 will be Math State Assessments for all 5th -8th grade students.
Pickup and Drop Off-
For the most part this is going well. A few reminders-
1. You can not pull around other cars unless and adult has flagged you on.
2. Please wait in your lane and you will be flagged on when you can pull in, do not park in the back of the lot and try to skip the lanes and jump in line.
3. Have patience- the process is not that long, on average it takes 7 minutes from the time the bell rings for dismissal and the last car leaves.
The reason we have created a procedure is so students are safe and not at risk of being hit by drivers. Again this is always about student safety.

Cost for Breakfast is $2.25- we start serving breakfast at 7:30 am

Message From Mr. Dziewior
Lakeside Singers to Perform National Anthem at the Royals Game
Our very own JWHS Lakeside Singers have been selected to perform the National Anthem at a Kansas City Royals game! We will be performing the National Anthem on May 28th when the Royals take on the Cincinnati Reds at Kaufmann Stadium. This is very exciting news, but now we need YOUR help!
In order to get the green light from the Royals, we need to sell 200 tickets. Luckily, they have given us a discounted price. Tickets start at just $20! I have attached a link at the bottom of this email where you can purchase tickets for the game. Tickets should be ordered through this link in order to "count" towards our 200-ticket goal. Here's the kicker! We need to have the required 200 tickets sold by April 18th!
Share the link with family and friends, and let's make sure we get these kids the audience that they deserve!
