College Fair! October 14th at 5:00pm
Southwest is hosting a College Fair the evening of October 14th beginning at 5:00pm. Students are encouraged to come out and speak with representatives from various colleges and military branches. The event begins at 5:00pm, and in addition to the various schools represented, Herff Jones will also be onsite to help students order their caps and gowns. There will also be food trucks available for some treats. While it is important for seniors planning to attend college next year to attend, the even is open to students from all grade levels. Please come to the event and get some great information.
Register for the Guilford Apprennticeship Partners (GAP) presentation on October 14th at 9:15am in the auditorium during Round-Up. The following is a list of requirements:
- Unweighted GPA of 2.8
- Complete the online GAP application by the due date of January 31st.
- Have a good attendance record
- Attend at least one GAP company open house and tour

Parking for Events
Spectator Parking is in the Barrow Rd. lot behind the school for all HOME events. This is the student lot behind the school.
Clear Bag Policy- We follow the GCS Clear Bag Policy at all athletic events. See the information in the flyer to the right.
Student Dropoff and Pickup
To help keep all students safe, please follow these arrival and dismissal procedures:
Students who are dropped off or picked up by car: Students should enter and exit through the front doors of the school. Cars should use the traffic circle in front of the school for drop-off and pick-up.
Do not drop off students in the back parking lot. The back lot is used by student drivers who are parking and entering the school, as well as by special transportation buses. Dropping students off in this area creates a safety hazard for pedestrians and other vehicles.
Student drivers: Please drive slowly and carefully in the student parking lot. Your parking pass must be displayed from your rearview mirror. Plan to arrive early enough to park and complete the required check-in/intake process before the tardy bell rings.
Tardy students: Any student who will arrive to class after the tardy bell must be checked in by a parent.
