Eminence R-1 Community Newsletter - November 2025
Deer Season, Thanksgiving, and a Time to Celebrate!
First, congratulations to our students, staff, and families for our continued growth reflected in this year's Annual Performance Report (APR)! This success is the result of hard work, dedication, and collaboration at every level. It's always rewarding to see our efforts pay off in ways that benefit our students and their futures.
On a personal note, I am truly thankful for the opportunity to serve as your superintendent. The warm welcome, encouragement, and support I have received from staff, students, families and our wider community have made this transition incredibly rewarding. It is an honor to work alongside such dedicated educators and engaged community members.
We're also heading into a few well-deserved breaks. Our upcoming Deer Season Break will give many families a chance to enjoy time outdoors and making lasting memories together. Soon after, we'll be celebrating Thanksgiving, a time to reflect on what we're grateful for. I'm certainly thankful for the incredible teamwork, support, and positivity that make our district such a special place.
A quick reminder: we will see students on Monday, November 24th and Tuesday, November 25 before we head into the Thanksgiving holiday. Let's make those two days count as we wrap up November and look forward to all the joy and excitement the December holidays bring.
Thank you for all you do to support our students and community each day. I'm proud of what we've accomplished together and excited for all that's still ahead this school year.
Board of Education Update
Eminence R-1 School Board of Education Meeting - November 10
At the November 10th meeting, the Eminence R-1 Board of Education:
The Board received updates on ROCS enrollment and the ongoing work involved in the processes our district is responsible for. We continue to learn and grow together through strong collaboration and partnership with ROCS as we move forward. A CSIP update was also shared with the Board. A draft of the updated CSIP will be presented at the December meeting, with final approval anticipated in January. Our team has already accomplished a significant number of goals, and we recently met to review our progress, archive completed work, and establish new goals to guide our efforts over the next several years.
Additionally the board:
- Approved the Bid Notice for School Photographer
- Approved District Federal Programs Handbook Revision
- Approved MSBA Policy 2025D Updates - the board did modify the update made to our weapons policy to ensure we are aligned with our handbook in terms of knife length. The policy reads "all knives longer than 2.5 inches or that have a lockable blade" are considered a prohibited weapon.
The Board of Education met in closed session with all members present. Actions taken include:
Employment:
- Reclassification of Elizabeth Fears - District Nurse
- Resignation of Jordan Slieter - High School Custodian
We appreciate the continued leadership and dedication of our Board of Education in supporting #EminenceExcellence!

πβ¨ Eminence Elementary Corner β¨π
The second quarter is off to a strong start at Eminence Elementary, filled with academic growth, professional learning, and a continued focus on student engagement. October and early November have showcased our students' and staffs' dedication to excellence, with highlights including Red Ribbon Week, the Halloween Celebration, Career on Wheels, and the expansion of our 2nd grade classroom. The Redwings spirit continues to shine through teamwork, enthusiasm, and pride in all we do.
Our Title I team has been active this fall, hosting a Fall Parent Meeting on October 21 and organizing a Family Literacy Night at Echo Bluff State Park on October 30. These events have strengthened school-family partnerships and promoted literacy growth across grade levels.
The end of October brought a wave of excitement and Redwings pride! Red Ribbon Week focused on theme "Be Kind to Your Mind - Live Drug Free," promoting positive choices and mental wellness. Each day features themed dress-up events, lessons on kindness and health, and concluded with a Higher Impact Character Assembly focused on respect and success.
Students also collaborated on an Inclusion & Kindness Poster Project, creating a powerful visual display celebrating unity and compassion. On October 30th, classrooms came alive for our Halloween Celebrations, complete with costumes, laughter, and family participation. We thank you for all your assistance during this special holiday!
November kicked off with our first Career on Wheels, organized by counselor Miranda Norris. Students met with community professionals whose jobs "keep the wheels turning," including law enforcement officers, firefighters, paramedics, park rangers, and local farmers. The event helped students connect classroom learning to real-world careers.
Eminence Elementary continues to shine through collaboration, innovation, and a shared commitment to student success. Every event, from professional learning to community engagement, reflects our mission to nurture literacy, leadership, and lifelong learning. Together, we build a future where every child is prepared to soar and is proud to be a part of the Redwings family.

ππ₯ Eminence High School Highlights π₯π
The fall season has officially wrapped up at EHS, and what a busy and successful stretch it's been! Throughout October, our students and staff were hard at work both in and out of the classroom. We hosted Parent-Teacher Conferences on October 16th, with a strong turnout from families. Our students also participated in a variety of enriching experiences, including the Build a Future Program in Poplar Bluff, a History and Drama Field Trip to Branson to see the Freedom Journey Show, and the Conference Career Fair in Van Buren on October 29th, where most of our juniors and seniors attended. The following day, several students traveled to West Plains for the Future Teacher Conference.
We wrapped up the month with our Red Ribbon Week celebration from October 27-30, featuring activities and spirited competition through our popular "Door Wars." Congratulations to our winners!
Our annual Fall Festival was also a huge success, it was wonderful to see so many students volunteering their time to help make the event run smoothly. Their teamwork and school pride truly made the event shine.
As we move into November we're looking forward to honoring our veterans, celebrating our students' continued achievements, and carrying the momentum from an excellent fall season into the months ahead.
