Supporting families facing food insecurity

San Juan Unified School District and Grand Oaks Elementary are joining the effort to support local families facing food insecurity this month. From Nov. 3–14, we invite you to donate non-perishable food, grocery gift cards, or make an online contribution to support families experiencing barriers to accessing food this month.

Donation Drop Off Times: 8AM - 4PM, front office for distribution at Grand Oaks

There are also district donation centers at San Juan High School and the district office for distribution throughout the district.

Most needed items include:
Canned or whole beans, rice, lentils, pasta, ramen, cereal, oatmeal, shelf-stable milk, peanut butter, Nutella, spaghetti sauce, canned soup, canned or dry fruit, crackers, snack bars, cake mix and $25 grocery gift cards

If you would like to sponsor a Thanksgiving meal for a family, please reach out to the front office (see below).

Together, we can make a difference. Thank you for helping feed our community!

Need Food Support?

Dear Grand Oaks Families,

As we approach the holiday season, we want to remind our families that our school community is here to support you. If you are in need of any type of food support or services, please reach out to the school office. We are happy to assist in any way we can.

With Thanksgiving around the corner, we understand that providing a holiday meal can be stressful. We are organizing Thanksgiving meal sponsorships for families in need. These pre-packaged, pre-cooked meals are available in portions that feed either two to four people. If you would like to request a meal, please contact the office to sign up confidentially.

Additionally, if your family would like to sponsor a Thanksgiving meal for another family, we would love your support! Sponsorships will help us ensure every family has the opportunity to enjoy a warm holiday meal.

Please let the office know if you are interested in receiving a meal or becoming a sponsor.
Thank you for helping us continue to care for one another as a school community.

Please use the crosswalk for drop off/pick up

To ensure the safety of all students and their families, please use the main gate and crosswalk when entering and exiting the school campus. Many families are currently using the drive thru exit, which is a safety concern. Using sidewalks and crosswalks sets a great example for our students. Thank you for helping keep everyone safe!
