TOGETHER WE ARE AWESOME!
Jacob Wismer Staff Charter
At Jacob Wismer we strive for a joyful and inclusive community. We…
honor confidentiality, create safe spaces, listen without judgment, and assume best intentions
create deliberate and genuine moments to connect with students, families and one another
use an equity lens to think about the impact of our actions and words on our children and each other
respect boundaries and need for balance
follow through when we make commitments.
Feel free to notice and post in the google doc specific examples of staff honoring our charter! We would love to highlight the things you are doing as part of your commitments to each other. 🙂 Any and all can contribute! We welcome it!

NOTE FROM LAURIE & ROBYN
Hello Lovely Staff,
This has been an incredible week. We have been getting into classrooms, recruiting DL teachers, and being with you our lovely staff. We have celebrated our incredible classified staff and social worker - folks without whom we would be lost.
Thank you to those who made posters with your kids and contributed to our snack bar. We appreciate each and every one of you so much!
On Tuesday, Steffanie Frost, Chief Human Resources Officer, will be here to hear about what qualities you would like in your next principal. We will introduce her but will not be in attendance. Para educators who wish to stay will need to turn in any time above their regular working hours to us to approve for comp time, or you may volunteer your time if you already have fulfilled the requirements for conference days off. Please see us if you have questions!
Rest well this weekend.

Mice have reappeared in the building. Gavin is working on clearing out and setting traps in the Kinder grade classrooms. We also have little friends on the stage! During Spring Break, Gavin will be clearing that space out, cleaning, and re-organizing. Anything that is not TWIG science materials will be stacked on one side of the stage and be removed once you have had a chance to claim things you may have put there. From then on, no items will be allowed on the stage that is not put there by our custodial staff. Thank you for your help with this!
DL Teachers
At the DL admin meeting this week we talked about the need for DL teachers to connect with one another and the idea came up that we would put out to all DL staff. This is an interest form for folks to connect with one another. This is an optional opportunity if you choose to particpate.
Virtual DL Teacher Collaboration Form- Please fill this out if you are interested in this optional opportunity
Tualatin Hills Park & Recreation Update
Spring sports begin next week, and THPRD maintenance teams will be preparing the fields that they manage for baseball and softball. Their landscaping crews will call your school’s front office before arriving so you can notify staff overseeing P.E. or recess. Fields are still a bit wet, but practices are expected to start March 9.
In the coming weeks, you also may see THPRD signs related to the May election. THPRD has a capital bond measure on the ballot, and BSD is allowing their informational signs on district property—just as THPRD previously allowed BSD to place levy and bond signs at their sites. Allowing these signs does not indicate district endorsement of THPRD’s ballot measure.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION FROM YOUR ELD TEAM
*Update to Scheduling Parent Teacher Conferences
Spring PTC’s will be taking place on 4/29 and 4/30. In order to make the sign up process more efficient, all families will be signing up through Parent Square. The sign ups will have to be sent out at least 6 weeks prior to conferences to allow time for interpreters to be assigned to the time slots that families have chosen. It is very important that families have been given enough time to sign up by the March 25th deadline to give them access to an interpreter. After the deadline, there is a chance that interpreters may no longer be available because we compete with other school districts that use the same pool of interpreters. Language interpretation for all PTCs will be provided virtually (Zoom or phone).
Here is a heads up of what you will need to do! The ELD team will send a reminder when it gets closer, but we want to make sure you are aware ahead of time.
Classroom Teachers:
Each teacher creates their PTC timeslots for all students in a Parent Square sign up post.
Include the below prompts in the body of your Parent Square message:
Please indicate if you will attend your conference in-person at the school or on Zoom in the Short Note box.
If you need a language interpreter, please indicate the language in the Short Note box.
If you have more than one child at this school, remember to schedule them at different times.
The deadline to sign up is March 25, 2026.
Each teacher sends their form to all their parents.
Important: You will need to give Samantha Nguyen (Bilingual Facilitator) access to your sign up sheet in Parent Square.
Sate Testing: Everything you need to know REPEAT
State testing season is upon us! This section will be devoted to anything state testing. It will be updated periodically, so keep checking it.
ELPA testing is in full swing. We will have someone from MLD coming on Tuesday Feb. 17th to help with testing. Her name is Soon Duk Choi. If you see her around welcome her to the building.
State Testing: The window for State testing is 3/31-6/12/26 The window for the seed survey is 2 /3 -6/12. Tentative date for staff training is 3/17. If you would like to get started on your testing dates, the link to add your testing schedule is below.

🌻 EARTH CONNECTIONS AND SCHOOL BEAUTIFICATION! 🌻
The School Beautification committee is partnering with the 5th grade Earth Connections Club to bring you Super Spring Sunflowers!
We have seeds, pots, and soil ready to be planted and cared for. We would supply you with a kit to do the planting with your class and all you would need to do is take care of the sprouts until they are ready to be planted.
Please fill out this survey to let us know if you’d like to participate in this completely optional project with your class.
Math PD Dates- From T&L
Save the dates!! We have secured dates and spaces for math PD in preparation for implementation of the new math curriculum. We have two sets of dates. The first round of PD will be around math practices. The second round will be on the selected new curriculum.
This survey is similar to the now defunct TELL survey. You will be receiving a link directly from ODE when it is time to do the survey. While this is an optional survey, we will be providing you with time to do this, as it is valuable information for us as leaders as well as for both ODE and the Oregon Legislature.
