LCS Sinking Fund Replacement
On November 3, voters in the Linden Community Schools (LCS) district will consider a Zero-Tax-Rate-Increase Sinking Fund Replacement that would continue funding for critical school facility needs while maintaining the current tax rate.
The proposal would continue the district's existing sinking fund, which has been supported by the LCS community for more than 30 years, at a rate of 1.1603 mills for 10 years (2027–2036). If approved, the measure would allow LCS to continue addressing school safety and security, technology, facility and site improvements, and transportation needs while keeping instructional dollars focused on students and classrooms.

Linden Early Childhood Center Earns Quality Rating
LCS Early Childhood Center has officially earned the Demonstrating Quality rating through Michigan’s Great Start to Quality system.
While basic state licensing ensures our doors are open and our space is safe, Great Start to Quality measures what actually happens inside our classrooms. Earning "Demonstrating Quality" means independent evaluators closely reviewed our program and verified that we meet high standards across the board. It recognizes that our educators hold specialized early childhood credentials, that we use a proven curriculum tailored to each child's growth, that our classrooms are built for inclusive learning, and that we actively partner with families.
For our students, this level of care directly translates into stronger early literacy, math, and social-emotional skills, helping them walk into kindergarten confident and fully prepared. For our families, it provides solid peace of mind knowing your children are in an environment designed to help them truly thrive.
These benefits extend far beyond daily instruction to strengthen our entire district. Achieving this rating opens doors to expanded state funding—including more grant oppertunities—and secures higher childcare subsidy reimbursement rates, ensuring our early childhood programs remain financially strong and accessible to all local families.
Reaching this milestone was a true team effort, made possible by our teachers’ tireless dedication in the classroom, and the trust of our families. While we are proud to earn this 'Demonstrating Quality' rating, we view it as a stepping stone rather than a finish line. We look forward to continuously elevating our program and building a stronger future for all of our young learners.
LCS Child Find Process
Linden Community Schools follows "Child Find" requirements of Federal Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) and Michigan Administrative Rules for Special Education (MARSE). As a parent, if you suspect your child (birth through 25 years of age) may have delays in physical, social, emotional, communication, and/or cognitive development which interferes with learning, please contact your child's teacher, building principal or special education office to discuss the need for pre-referral strategies, a potential parent-teacher meeting, and/or information on the testing process.
LCS Breakfast and Lunch...Free for Students
We are excited to share that breakfast and lunch will be available at no cost to all students this school year through the Michigan School Meals program, and our participation in the Community Eligibility provision in the National School Lunch and Breakfast Program. Every student is eligible to receive one free breakfast and one free lunch each school day, regardless of household income.
Although meals are free for all students, we ask that every family complete an Education Benefits Form. This form is very important because it helps determine eligibility for state and federal funding that supports educational programs and services for all students.
Completing the Education Benefits Form may help our district receive additional funding for:
- Classroom resources and technology
- Academic intervention and support services
- School counseling and student wellness programs
- Before- and after-school programs
- Other valuable educational opportunities
Families who qualify may also be eligible for additional benefits through other state and community programs.
How to Complete the Education Benefits Form
Families may complete the form online through the Meal Magic Family Portal: Meal Magic Family Portal
If you prefer to complete a paper application, you may print the Education Benefits Form here:
Paper copies are also available in the school office upon request.
Thank you for taking a few minutes to complete the Education Benefits Form. Your participation helps ensure our district receives the resources needed to provide the best possible educational opportunities for all students.
