Ryan's Story Assembly for Parents and Students
Both East and West Middle Schools have invited Mr. John Halligan as a guest speaker to share his story of his son Ryan. He will relay his tragic experience as a father whose 13 year-old son died by suicide in 2003 after incessant bullying by peers, both in school and online. Mr. Halligan will also share information about underlying mental health conditions that contributed to Ryan’s death. Mr. Halligan will be offering a parent preview on October 20, 2026 at 7pm in the MSW auditorium. Please see the attached letter for more information.
After School Homework Help Has Started!
Students will be able to stay after school on Tuesdays and Thursdays to either complete homework or get help with homework with a teacher. No sign up is necessary and students just need to report to the office immediately after school. Homework help runs from 2:40 - 3:40pm. No transportation will be provided. We are asking that students are picked up promptly at 3:40pm.

From the School Counselor's Desk
Welcome Ms. Stenman!
Hello, MSW families! My name is Caity Stenman, and I am excited to join the Boyertown Middle School West community as the new 8th Grade School Counselor. This is my sixth year as a school counselor, and I am looking forward to getting to know the students and families of MSW and supporting our students throughout their 8th grade year.
I earned my B.A. in Psychology and my M.Ed. in School Counseling from Eastern University. Prior to joining Boyertown, I worked as a school counselor in the Tredyffrin-Easttown, Twin Valley, and Haverford Township school districts. My experiences in these districts have given me the opportunity to work with students and families in a variety of school communities, and I am excited to bring that experience to MSW.
A little bit about me outside of school: I live in Royersford with my family. My son was born in July, so we are enjoying all the excitement that comes with welcoming a new baby into our family! We also have a dog named Iris and a cat named Xena, who keep things busy at home. I grew up in Collegeville and attended Spring-Ford High School, so working in this area is especially meaningful to me.
I am thrilled to be part of the Boyertown community and look forward to building relationships with students and families throughout the year. My goal is to make sure every student feels supported, heard, and encouraged as they navigate the many academic, social, and personal experiences that come with middle school. I can't wait to meet you and your students!
Title I Newsletters
Boyertown, Colebrookdale, Earl and Washington are the identified Title I elementary schools in our district. Middle School West is also identified as a Title I school. These schools receive Title I funding based on the percentage of low-income eligible students.
Title I is a federally funded program purposed with ensuring all children have a fair and equal opportunity to learn and grow. Boyertown has transitioned to a Schoolwide Title I program. A Schoolwide program is designed to serve all students in a Title I building and improve all structures to help support student learning. Our Schoolwide plan was developed with the help of parents, community members, teachers, and administrators. Our plan is evaluated annually to determine the impact that these supports have on student achievement.
As a Schoolwide Title I building, the staff is reviewing all students' data to determine needs. Students are identified for intervention if in need of academic support, primarily in the area of reading. All students receiving additional support must qualify through our district assessments. Support is provided to the students individually or in small groups both in class and as a pullout program. Schools set a goal for academic progress that will be measured through mid-year and end-of-the-year assessments. The Reading Specialists, Intervention teachers, paraprofessionals, and classroom teachers partner together to support students.
Our district works diligently to use the Title I funds as required and to provide these additional services to enhance the educational program of our Title I students. If you have any questions about the Title I program, please reach out to your building's reading specialist or call the Title I office at (610) 369-7414.

Students may not bring or use medication at school without the required medical documentation. Please contact the health room and/ or click here if you have questions or need to provide an updated medication order.
