GJPS Preschool Weekly Update

April 8- April 12- Spring Break

We will be holding an End of the Year Awards Ceremony for all of our preschoolers on May 23rd and May 24th. Details about your child's classroom awards ceremony will be sent home in your child's folder and will be posted on their Class Dojo.

Times for the event:

AM Session-10:20-11:05 and PM Session -2:15-3:00 PM

Due to spacing concerns we are limiting this event to 2 guests per child.

Registration Begins in April!

We are excited to offer our Journey to Learning and High School Summer School programming again in 2024!

Our K-8 program and K-12 English Learners program are designed to provide intervention to students who need targeted support in reading and/or math. For that reason, we are moving to a referral-based system of student registration. Students will be referred by their school teams based upon academic performance criteria and need. Families of eligible students will receive written communication regarding their student’s referral for summer services, along with the invitation to register.

Families that do not receive communication regarding their student's school referral will not be eligible to register for K-8 summer programs and K-12 English Learners programs.

The registration process for high school courses, elementary special education, Kindergarten Readiness and preschool will be open to all students but with limited space available.

More detailed registration instructions, including course fees and transportation as applicable, will be available in April.

More Summer School Information

Each year for state reporting, we are required to collect income percentages of students served in our GJPS preschool. The link below outlines the poverty levels based on size of family and can be used to make the appropriate selection for your family.

Please complete the google form by April 5, 2024. There is an option to opt out if you choose not to participate.

Dear Families,

After spring break, children will explore sea life. They will learn about creatures big and small that live in the ocean. They will also learn about caring for the ocean and the plants and animals that live there.

For students age-eligible for Kindergarten, a kick off will be held at the school building your child will be attending for the 2024-2025 school year. We will be sharing lists of students transitioning on 4/15/24 with building principals.

Age for Kindergarten: Your child must be 5 by August 1, 2024 to go to Kindergarten.

Enrollment for Kindergarten: If your child is age-eligible to go to Kindergarten and currently attends our preschool, you will NOT need to enroll them for Kindergarten. We will send all information to the building principals.

Reminder for what session your child will be in next year:

AM Session- children that are not 4 by August 1, 2024

PM Session- children who are 4 by August 1, 2024

Our preschool licensing rules require us to have an updated medical statement on each student after EACH annual exam. The medical statement form is attached below. Take this form to your child's yearly exam to have completed by their pediatrician. If you need a form sent home, please let us know and we would be happy to print and send it home!

The Heart and Pride Award recognizes two outstanding staff members each month who make a profound impact on our students and Gahanna-Jefferson Public Schools.

The Heart & Pride Nomination Form will remain available year-round and is open to any member of our staff, regardless of position.
