POA Update
Message From Mr. Corcoran
Students who are currently enrolled in an online class through the POA, you should have all logged in and began your course(s). If you're having trouble logging in, see Mrs. Maki in the office. She can walk you through the process.
Some of you will notice that some of the courses look a little different this year. The core classes are now called EdgeEx courses and have a better look and feel to them. Once you get the hang of it, I believe you'll like them better than the old courses. The electives are still the same as before (called "heritage" courses).
Dates to remember:
- 10/1/25: Count Day. Very important to log in and complete an assignment in EACH online class on that specific day. Failure to do so may result in suspension of enrollment.
- 10/31/25: End of 1st quarter. You need to be at 50% completion in each course to remain in good standing with the online academy.
- 1/9/25: End of semester. You need to be at 100% completion of each class in order to earn the credit for the class.
It's expected that you complete approximately 7% of each class each week in order to remain in good standing. There is a progress bar when you log in that will tell you how much progress you've made each day.
You'll receive a welcome letter from each of your online teachers. But please understand that your teachers are not going to "hold your hand" through the course. They are there if you need them but all the responsibility of completing the courses falls on you. In order to be successful in the online world, you need to have self motivation and self-determination. It can't come from somebody else.
Constitution Day
On Wednesday, September 17, 2025, we recognize Constitution Day, a time to reflect on the foundation of our nation’s democracy. The U.S. Constitution, signed on September 17, 1787, continues to guide and protect our freedoms, rights, and responsibilities as citizens.
Event Information
September is Suicide Prevention Month
Every life matters. This month, we join communities across the nation to break the silence, support one another, and spread hope. Mental health challenges are real, and asking for help is a sign of strength—not weakness.
If you or someone you know is struggling:
-
Talk to a friend, family member, teacher, or counselor.
-
Reach out to the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline (call or text 988, or chat online at 988lifeline.org).
-
Remember—you are not alone. There is help, and there is hope.
Together, we can look out for one another, listen without judgment, and make a difference. Let’s keep the conversation going and support those around us—this month and every month.
Student Handbook
We encourage both parents and students to read the student handbook carefully. It provides important information about school expectations, rules, and available resources, helping everyone understand their rights, responsibilities, and how to create a safe, respectful, and successful learning environment together.
