Dear Parents and Carers,

At Larks Hill this week, the pupils have been working hard in lessons as well as taking part in some fantastic enrichment activities:

πŸ§‘πŸ»β€πŸ³πŸ‘©πŸ»β€πŸ³ UKS2 Cooking Competition πŸ‘©πŸ»β€πŸ³πŸ‘¨πŸ»β€πŸ³

Our two culinary finalists battled it out in the kitchen. The staff were treated to prawn and mango wraps, as well as lemon-chicken burgers served with potato wedges. After the votes were counted, the prawn mango wraps were the winner which means that Harry will get the opportunity to experience a cooking masterclass with a professional chef.

🌺🌼🌷🌹Eco Team & Gardening Club Trip🌹🌷🌼🌺

On Wednesday, the Eco Team visited Three Springs in Wentbridge where they had a wonderful experience taking part in outdoors education in a nature reserve. The children learned about fire safety before having story time around a campfire, decorated a memory stick with wild flowers that they picked themselves and learned which flowers are safe and unsafe to pick.

πŸƒ Sports Day πŸƒ πŸƒ Sports Day πŸƒ

Sports Day this year will take place on Wednesday 1st July. It will commence at 9:30am with the aim to complete for 11:30am. This will include all children from EYFS to Year 6.

Children will need to come to school in their PE kit with a house colour t-shirt – they do not need to change into uniform during the day. If you need confirmation of your child’s house colour, please speak to your child’s class teacher.

Where possible, siblings will be grouped together for you to be able to watch them together. Children will be competing for their houses through a range of events.

If the weather is not in our favour, we will postpone with as much notice as possible for Monday 6th July.

πŸš— Parking at School πŸš— πŸš— Parking at School πŸš—

We are seeing an increasing number of parents parking on corners and pavements outside of school causing danger to children and families who are crossing the road.

Please can I ask all parents to be more considerate about where they park to drop off or collect their children from school at the start and end of the day. Where possible, please park away from the immediate area of school where the streets will be less congested and where there will be more appropriate places to park.

I realise that some parents have no alternative other than to drive their children to school each day, however, where possible, I would always recommend that children have the opportunity to walk to school as this encourages an active start and end to the day.

May we also take this opportunity to remind you that the school car park is a private car park for staff and visitors only. Parents picking up and dropping off pupils for breakfast club and after school clubs should not under any circumstance, enter the staff car park unless they are a Blue Badge holder.

Thank you for your continued support.

The Whipp family have had an out of this world experience recently! They are big fans of Mark Rober and have watched all his amazing science videos. Many, many months ago they watched the launch of SatGus, a selfie taking satellite. They have found out this week that they had, as a family, been beamed into outer space for their very own spaceselfie!!

Incredible

A Message from the Children's Commissioner A Message from the Children's Commissioner

I am asking for your support in ensuring children and young people from your school take part in a national survey.

It is crucial that I hear from children in every school and college, in every community, across the country. Without hearing from your students, their experiences, views and aspirations risk being missing from the national picture that will help shape future policy.

At a time of significant change for children and young people, it is more important than ever that their views are reflected in policy making. Through this survey, I can take the voices of your students directly to the centre of government.

You can access the survey yourself here: http://www.childrenscommissioner.gov.uk/thebigfuture.

Pupils will also be given the opportunity to complete this in school next week.

Featherstone Lions

Featherstone Lions ARLFC are currently recruiting children for our Primary Rugby programme, which caters for boys and girls aged 3-10 years old.

please see the attached a poster containing details of their sessions which focus on fun, fitness, teamwork and developing confidence in a safe and welcoming environment.

They offer opportunities for children of all abilities, from our Tots sessions for ages 3-6 through to U11s teams.

Wraparound Care Wraparound Care

Due to a recent increase in demand for our Wraparound After School club, we have taken the decision to increase our capacity from 15 to 18 children per day. We hope this will help out those families that need childcare either on a regular or ad hoc basis.

If you haven’t used our Wraparound After School Club before, please drop in to the office to sign the agreement form.

The Club runs from 3.15pm-5.45pm Monday-Thursday and costs Β£12 per session (or Β£10 each for siblings).

Children can take part in games, activities, crafts and more! We also offer a selection of snacks and light bites for them to enjoy.

From next week we will also be launching our new Friday offer! Friday club will run as the rest of the week but at a discounted price of Β£8 for the full session, or Β£5 for a 4.30pm pick-up. This could be an opportunity for parents to get ready for the weekend, do some shopping or run any errands that need doing without the children there.

Places should be booked on MCAS by Friday of the preceding week, please give us a call if you need to book after this deadline and we will see what we can do.
