Heights Happenings
Eastern Heights Elementary School, April 2026
Dear Families,
As we head into the final weeks of the 2025-26 school year, Mrs. Adams and I, along with our staff, would like to say thank you for all the support you give your students everyday. They have all grown so much in the past year and as we wrap up this year, we're already making plans for and getting excited about next school year.
Once we return from Spring Break, the days will fly by but your students will still be learning everything they need to know to prepare them for next year. Attendance everyday is incredibly important and we have had a lot of fun with our monthly attendance incentives, getting kids excited about coming to school!
3rd and 4th graders will have one more round of state testing the week of April 20th so please be sure that they get a good nights sleep and are ready to conquer their Math test!
Thank you for your continued partnership in making Eastern Heights Elementary a place where every child is supported and inspired.
Warmly,
Brenda Wittman
Principal
A Note from Mrs. Adams
Hello Families!
It’s hard to believe that we have already made it to April! It is awing how much our students have grown this school year. From the very first days of school to now, we have seen tremendous academic progress, increased confidence, and meaningful friendships blossom across all grade levels. It is truly a joy to watch our students develop not only as learners, but as kind, resilient, and curious people.
This time of year brings a special kind of energy to our school. With warmer weather approaching and longer days ahead, students are naturally excited about what lies ahead—summer break, new opportunities, and the anticipation of moving up to the next grade level. Classrooms are buzzing with excitement.
At the same time, we recognize that this season can also bring mixed emotions. For many students, the thought of saying goodbye to a beloved teacher or familiar routines can create feelings of nervousness or uncertainty. These emotions are completely normal, and we encourage families to talk openly with their children about both their excitement and any worries they may have and how to handle these emotions at school.
Our staff is also committed to supporting students through these transitions, helping them feel confident and prepared for the next step in their journey. Over the coming weeks, we will continue to celebrate student accomplishments, reinforce strong learning habits, and create positive experiences that make the end of the school year both meaningful and memorable. We are so proud of the hard work our students have shown and grateful for the partnership we share with you in supporting their success.
Thank you for being an important part of our school community. We look forward to finishing the year strong—together.

EASTERN HEIGHTS CAMPUS TRAFFIC
Campus traffic rules are in place to keep all students and staff safe during arrival and dismissal times. We appreciate you honoring these rules to keep everyone safe!
- Drive slowly and stay alert while on campus; refrain from cell phone use while driving on campus
- Drive slowly and follow all building staff directions while driving on campus
- Use crosswalks when walking your children to & from the building
- Cars must not stop in a crosswalk; while cars are waiting to move, crosswalks must be free for people to cross
- Cars should enter campus for drop off and pick up at the Prospect/Cornell entrance and follow the ring road around campus. Using this entrance allows the smoothest flow of traffic.
- There is no parking in the pickup lane during drop off or dismissal; this helps the flow of traffic move smoothly
- Cars should make only 1 lane of traffic on the campus (inside lane closest to the building); do not pull out and pass cars that are in the pick-up lane
- Cars should refrain from entering the bus lane on the north side of the building; this lane is used for all ECS busses as well as all daycare and after school program vans.
- Drop-off & pickup your student using the spaces between the 2 orange cones directly in front of the building
Thank you for helping us make drop-off & pickup safety the #1 priority!

Safety Drills
With safety as a top priority of the Eastern Heights Campus staff, we want you to be aware that you may see us outside practicing a drill as we start the school year. Please remember to drive slowly and/or stop to allow the drill to proceed safely. And, be sure to have your student dress appropriately for the weather and know that we practice these drills with all our students to keep everyone safe!
