2021-22 Illinois School Report Card Update

Albright Middle School is very excited to share that we are officially a Commendable School according to the Illinois School Report Card. I shared this information with our students and staff this week and could not be more proud. Four years ago, when I started at Albright, we were unfortunately classified as Underperforming based on 2018-19 data. Due to Covid-19, the state stopped grading schools and we were stuck here. It is an honor to finally put the last three years behind and know that we have worked hard to help our students grow even throughout a pandemic.

I am most impressed with our current 8th Graders! Last year on the IAR, they grew 75% in ELA and 150% in Math. These growth measures are unheard of and we are so proud of our teachers and students for this achievement. Most school are reporting minimal growth, and I am so blown away by our Viking's progress.

Sincerely,

Ms. Aulisa

Benny the Albright Therapy Dog

We are excited to share that Benny has passed his test to become our school's therapy dog. We will start transitioning him into the training phase over the next couple of weeks. He will begin by staying in the office and only visiting common spaces and then eventually he will work his way into our classrooms. I have talked with students a lot about this, and we have contacted families who have allergy concerns. If you have any concerns about having a dog in school, please let me know. He is a Goldendoodle, and he does not shed. This has been in fruition for almost a year and we cannot wait to welcome out newest staff member to the Viking Family.

Sincerely,

Ms. Aulisa

Albright Orchestra

The 7th and 8th grade Orchestra students got to participate in the Willowbook High School Orchestra Day with Jackson and Jefferson Middle Schools. There was over 150 students that participated. This has been a huge challenge to prepare all of these pieces for this festival and everyone has put in their best effort. The high school pieces asked everyone to up their skill level and they have accepted that challenge with great attitudes. Ms.Armwood is proud of their achievement and it was a wonderful concert.

AmazonSmile

Do you shop at Amazon frequently? Did you know they offer a small percentage of eligible orders to be donated to a charity of your choice? FTC is a charity that can receive donations if account holders set it up to do so! All you have to do is shop as you normally would. If any of the items are eligible for AmazonSmile donations, FTC will receive the money that is paid out a few times per year. Even better? All of the money in turn supports our schools and children. It's a win win!

To get started from the app, go to the main menu and tap on the 'settings' icon (≡). Go to the Programs and Features heading and tap the V to See all. Scroll down and tap AmazonSmile. There you will be able to search for Salt Creek School District 48 Families Teachers Children in Villa Park, IL.

If you are using the Amazon website, start your shopping at smile.amazon.com. You will be prompted to add a charity.

It's that easy! It may seem that .5% of your purchase is not a lot, but you would be surprised to see how quickly it adds up when we work together to support our great district. Thanks for helping!!
