1SC Shout Outs!
Emma Rose Pifer
Did you know Sand Creek has over 13 students participating in a work study/apprentice program? The Aggie Academic Center recognizes that there are many paths to learning and this is just one of many!
This week's featured student is Emma Rose Pifer. Emma is completing a work-experience placement at Brookdale Senior Living. In this program, Emma Rose spends the second half of her day completing various tasks at the senior living center and earns wages for her hard work. Thank you Emma for showing what the 1SC work ethic is all about!
The Counseling Center would like to continue to recognize the LISD TECH Center for all of their hard work partnering with us and helping us to support and secure these placements for our students at Sand Creek.

TECH CENTER APPLICATIONS
(Note: this was also posted on Google Classroom)
The link for TECH CENTER for CURRENT 10th and 11th grade students is attached below. This link goes live at 8am on Jan. 6. It may go live earlier so you may want to try earlier. I have no control of when this link goes live. This is done by the LISD. Even if you are a current student in a TECH program, you still need to fill this out. If your instructor welcomes you back for a 2nd year of your program then you will be given that slot. What is considered when assigning spots? Considerations are listed below (in no particular order):
- Attendance (if you have poor attendance in the district, you are not as likely to be chosen as a top candidate.)
- Grades (if you are behind on credits I often cannot send you to TECH Center as I have to enroll you in recovery credit classes. You don't need to be an A/B student, but you do need to be passing classes and have a positive work ethic.)
- Time-Stamp of Application (the earlier the better)
- Fit (I look to see if you have indicated a past interest in the past for this career path and if you have met with me to discuss this intention. I do keep notes on these meetings and review them. Your EDP-educational development plan-in Xello must match your program. If it does not I recommend you edit it to match.)
- Work Ethic (I also look at your general work ethic as reported by teachers to ensure you will be successful at TECH.
Spots are limited and I wish I could give every student their 1st choice (or even 2nd choice). Unfortunately, it is often impossible. If you don't get in during the 1st round, I can try to get you a slot during the 2nd round county lotto around mid-March. After that, if you are still interested, I will place you on a waitlist in case there is an opening. I will continue to place students as spots open up through the first week of school in August.
ASVAB Test
If you are interested in taking the ASVAB, the TECH Center will be hosting a testing session open to all Lenawee County Juniors/Seniors on 2-5-26 8:30-11:30. Students must sign up in Student Services or email sue.ritchey@lisd.us. You do not need to be a TECH student to sign up. You should also let Ms. Myers know if you sign up so she can make sure you are school related.
