School Transportation
Transportation is controlled by BPS, and if you have questions you can reach out to them directly with questions. In order to build the routes for our buses BPS takes all students at the school into consideration, and gives each student who is more than .7 miles away a bus route. If you receive a letter from Buffalo with a bus route, and you do not want your child to ride that bus, please let the school know. If you don't tell us to not put them on the bus, we will be putting them on the bus. A simply call to the office, or note sent into the teacher is enough to make sure we do not put them on the bus.
If you want to make a change for a particular day, please make sure you have contacted the school or teacher by 12:30. Changes called in after that may not be abled to be processed in time.
Car Riders/Pick Ups
If you need to pick up your child early, you must do so before 1:30. No child will be released from 1:30 until 2:00 pm.
You must utilize our school pass number system for picking up your students. If you do not have a number please contact your child's teacher or the office so we can get you your students number. Please do not come into the office to request your child, unless you have not been given a school pass number.
Walkers
All walkers are released at 2:00 pm. Students need to walk on Westminster when they leave the building. Due to the buses being on East Amherst we want to ensure our students are safe as they walk home, and with the buses it can be dangerous.

Attendance
WCCS uses a tiered approach to increased student attendance. We start with foundational supports for the whole school. These foundational supports are followed by prevention-oriented supports for attendance (Tier1), more personalized outreach or early intervention (Tier 2), and intensive intervention (Tier 3).
The Tiers of Intervention
Foundational strategies are practices for the whole school that promote positive conditions for learning. When positive conditions are in place, students are more likely to attend and be engaged.
Tier 1 strategies are aimed at encouraging better attendance for all students and at preventing absenteeism before it affects achievement.
Tier 2 interventions are designed to remove barriers to attendance for students at greater risk of chronic absenteeism, such as those who missed 10% of the school year, the standard definition of chronic absenteeism. These students and families should receive personalized attention as part of the engagement strategy.
Tier 3 interventions provide intensive support to students missing the most school, often involving not just schools but other agencies such as health, housing and social services, and typically requiring case management customized to individual students’ challenges. Students missing 20% or more of the school year benefit from the addition of this intensive level of support.
