GaDOE has launched a new innovative platform to provide the opportunity for science teachers and GaDOE staff to collaborate, connect and share thoughts and resources as well as encouragement for the 2020-2021 school year! The instructions below will help guide you in the creation of your account and navigating to the virtual professional learning communities that you are interested in.

Step 1: To get started, visit the GaDOE community website via this link, select "Create an Account" and follow the prompts for setting up a new account on the platform.

Vernier Remote Learning Sample Data Library Vernier Remote Learning Sample Data Library

To assist you as you move from the classroom or laboratory setting to online teaching, Vernier is offering the Vernier Experiment and Sample Data Library—a free collection of over 300 experiments with sample data covering many subjects that you can distribute to your students at home. Students will use the experiment data we’ve collected to perform their own analysis. You can see how to use this website with your students from the YouTube video of our science curriculum meeting last month. Click on this link and it will take you to the specific part of the video to see the Vernier Library in action.

To our K12 stakeholder community - educators, administrators, students, parents, and partners - while we can't be with you in person during this time, we do want to bring to you some excellent resources for learning in your home and backyard. We are working with faculty across GTRI and partnering with CEISMC to develop free online resources for you to use at home that will be available here and at CEISMC's STEAM from a Distance (see link below) and sharing links from other great resources we find such as those from partner agencies.

Check back as we also add resources, including videos, challenges, and activities, developed for K12 STEAM education by GTRI researchers and faculty.

Take care and be well. We hope you find value and fun in these STEAM education resources while learning from home.

Access Mars Access Mars

Access Mars lets you explore an 3D replica of the Martian surface, exactly as it was recorded by the Curiosity Rover. As Curiosity has travelled across Mars, it's take digital photographs with two stereoscopic camera systems. By combining and analyzing these photographs, scientists at NASA JPL have created a 3D model used to study Mars and plan future experiments. For the first time, this same 3D model is now available here for any to explore in their browser using WebVR.
