March 21, 2025

Happy Friday, Kegonsa Families!

It’s officially spring, and that means SPRING BREAK has arrived! Wishing all of our families a fun, safe, and relaxing break. We’ll see everyone back at school on Monday, March 31st—ready to jump into a busy and exciting April.

We’ve made great progress with Forward State Testing this week, and it will continue after break. A quick reminder that yearbook orders are due April 1st, so be sure to get those in!

After break, students have some exciting field trips to look forward to:

  • 🌟 5th grade is heading to the State Capitol and Veterans Museum
  • 🌟 2nd grade is off to Texas Roadhouse—yee-haw!
  • 🌟 KG & 1st grade will see Elephant and Piggie at Madison Youth Arts

April is always a busy month, filled with learning, fun, and the countdown to the end of the school year. And with the weather warming up, it’s a great time to get outside—starting with Demo Day for our Community Garden tomorrow (3/22)! Join our Working for Kids group as they revitalize the garden. Here’s what you need to know:

  • 🛠 When: 9 AM - Noon (break for lunch) & 1 - 4 PM
  • 🌱 Where: Kegonsa School Garden
  • 🌞 Who: Kids and adults welcome—drop in when you can!
  • 🧤 What to Bring: Weather-appropriate clothing, gardening gloves, tools (especially shovels if you have them)

This is their first big School Garden workday, with more planned throughout the year. If you’d like to stay involved, join the Kegonsa School Garden Volunteer Group for updates!

Enjoy the break, and we’ll see everyone back in two weeks! 💙 Erin

What better way to start everyone’s clay unit, than with a full day visit from a professional ceramic Artist! 3rd graders had the opportunity to learn from and work alongside our visiting Artist for half the day!! We had a blast and created so many masterpieces!

We’ve also been taking advantage of the weather and getting outside for Art when we can. We are spending these last days before break finishing projects and doing lots of Art in our Open Studio days!

Whether it's an individual or a group of students, those who receive this award truly reflect the values we hold dear at our school.
