DR. MARTIN'S MESSAGE
Dear Parents,
Today we celebrate Ash Wednesday, the beginning of the Lenten season. This important day in the Church year marks the start of 40 days of prayer, fasting, and almsgiving as we prepare our hearts for Easter.
Throughout Lent, students will be encouraged to focus on three important practices:
- Prayer – Spending extra time talking and listening to God.
- Fasting – Making small sacrifices to grow in self-control and gratitude.
- Almsgiving – Showing kindness and helping those in need.
Lent is a special time for reflection, growth, and preparing for the joy of Easter. We look forward to walking this journey together as a school community.
We have also been celebrating Women’s Heart Health Month throughout February. This Friday will culminate in a school-wide Jump-a-Thon!
All students may wear a red shirt with jeans or other pants. Students who wish to participate in the Jump-a-Thon are asked to donate $2.
Last week, our Second-Grade students whipped up PUMPKIN PIZZAS here at Cardinal Pacelli School! 🍕New Leaf Kitchen, a nonprofit organization dedicated to nourishing young minds through cooking and food education, visited our school. Their mission is to spark a passion for healthy eating by teaching students where food comes from and how to source and prepare nutritious meals. New Leaf Kitchen partners with La Soupe, and we are grateful for the wonderful work both organizations are doing in our community.
This was a fantastic experience for our students! We sincerely appreciate the efforts of Mrs. Hambleton and Mrs. Murray in supporting new programs that benefit our students and the broader community. We are also very fortunate for the support of our PTO in making this opportunity possible — thank you!
A reminder that the end of the trimester is Friday, February 20.
Report cards will be emailed on Friday, February 27.
Thank you for your continued partnership and support of Cardinal Pacelli School.
Thank you,
Jen Martin

JUMP-A-THON - FEBRUARY 20
Cardinal Pacelli Jump-A-Thon to benefit the American Heart Association and the Go Red for Women campaign!
Students can bring $2 to participate in the Jump-A-Thon!
Friday, February 20th, 2020
All of the proceeds from this year’s Jump-A-Thon will benefit Go Red for Women.
- Cardiovascular disease is the No. 1 killer of women. The American Heart Association Go Red for Women movement's Woman of Impact campaign is working to change that.
- Heart disease unfairly targets women, who have been left out of research, testing, treatment and funding. Women have been underrepresented, undertreated and undercounted. But it doesn't have to be this way.
- Many of you know one of our very own teachers, Mrs. Maggie Taul has been affected by this disease along with several of my family members, and I am proud to help in raising money to help with more research in the fight against this disease!
- As a part of the Cardinal Pacelli School community, I am also working with a team of women in Cincinnati to raise money and awareness for cardiovascular disease.
Please consider making a donation by clicking this link: American Heart Association - Woman of Impact
Many Thanks!
