Dear Stony Brook Families,
I hope you and your family enjoyed a wonderful weekend, stayed safe, and didn't eat too much candy! Speaking of candy, please limit the amount sent to school to just a piece or two each day. Too much sugar can leave students a little wound up, followed by an energy crash—not exactly the best recipe for learning!
Don't forget to "fall back" today, November 1st, and turn your clocks back one hour!
Celebrating Respect and Flexible Thinking!
This week, we will be celebrating Respect and recognizing students who have gone above and beyond in demonstrating this important character trait. We are so proud of the kindness, respect, and positive choices our students continue to show each day!
We will also be introducing the concept of being a "Flexible Thinker." Learning to adapt when things don't go as planned, manage disappointment, and approach challenges with a positive attitude are important skills for our young learners. Be sure to check out the information below for some fun and simple ways to practice flexible thinking at home. We encourage you to give them a try!
Learning Around Stony Brook!
So much wonderful learning is happening in our classrooms!
Kindergarten students are developing their number sense by comparing numbers to 5 and will soon begin exploring shapes.
First Grade students are continuing their exciting study of tools and how they help us create magnificent things!
Second Grade students are exploring maps, countries, and cultures around the world through their EL Education literacy curriculum.
It's exciting to see our students building new skills, making connections, and growing as learners every day!
Thank you for your continued partnership and support. Wishing everyone a wonderful week ahead!
Kindly,
Mrs. Kasper

Next SEPAC Meeting & Survey
A note from Interim Student Services Director, Dr. Erin Sullivan:
We invite families of students receiving special education services to attend our second ‘26-’27 school year Special Education Parent Advisory Council (SEPAC) meeting. This meeting will host Nauset Regional High School Special Education Department Chair Genna Margotta for a presentation on “Supporting Your Secondary Student.” This presentation is intended for families of middle and high school aged students to learn how you can support your student to “do school.” However, it will also be beneficial for families of elementary students to begin to think about the changes that occur for students entering the secondary level.

Birthdays at Stony Brook
Personalized Birthday Messages
I create a Morning Message video each morning to avoid interrupting classrooms using the PA system. I like to include fun birthday greetings to students in these videos. Basically, you email me (Kasperc@nausetschools.org) a front facing picture of your pet a few days before your child's birthday and I will include a similar greeting in the Morning Message. Here is a sample video.
Don't worry if you don't have a pet (or forget), I have plenty of animal photos to use!
