A Message from the Chancellor
Dear Rhodes Families,
As we continue through this week, our Edwin Rhodes Elementary family is carrying a heavy heart. I would first like to extend my deepest gratitude to our families for the outpouring of love, support, prayers, and kindness shown as we mourn the loss of Ms. H, Stephanie Hargrove. Ms. H was far more than a Guest Professor. She was a cherished member of our school community whose warmth, dedication, and joyful spirit touched the lives of countless Scholars. Whether in classrooms, on the playground, or supporting school events, she was a constant presence on our campus and an important part of what makes Edwin Rhodes Elementary such a special place. We know that many of our Scholars are processing this loss in different ways, and we want families to know that counseling and support services are available on campus for any Scholar who would benefit from speaking with a counselor. Please do not hesitate to reach out to us if your child needs additional support during this difficult time. Moreover, the Hargrove family would like to extend their invitation to her Celebration of Life. Please see the information below.
As we honor Ms. H's legacy of caring for others, last week marked the beginning of our Food for Life Thanksgiving Drive. As a school community, we have set an ambitious goal of helping provide Thanksgiving meals for more than 700 families. This annual tradition reflects the generosity and compassion that makes Edwin Rhodes Elementary so special. We encourage every family to consider participating and helping us make a meaningful difference in the lives of others this holiday season.
Additionally, please be sure to review the Literature Day information that was recently shared through ParentSquare. The message contains important details regarding this exciting event, and we encourage families to read through the information carefully so Scholars can fully participate in this celebration of reading, literacy, and learning.
Thank you for your continued partnership, support, and commitment to our school community. Together, we will continue to care for one another, support our Scholars, and honor the lasting impact Ms. H had on all of our lives.

Attendance
Edwin Rhodes Elementary recognizes that a student’s attendance record directly contributes to student academic success. It is state law that all children attend school for the time that school is in session. We must account for all absences and tardies. Should your child be absent or tardy for any reason, please do one of the following:
- Call the school on the day of the absence or write a note and send it with your child when he/she returns to school.
Board Policy requires all absences to be “cleared” with an e-mail, phone call, or note within 5 days of the absence to keep the student from being considered truant. After 5 days, the “truant” status becomes permanent. See SART and SARB for additional information.
