BLUE JAY BULLETIN
CREATING A LEGACY....EVERY STUDENT, EVERY DAY!
MISSION STATEMENT
Golbow Elementary, together with family and community, provides authentic learning experiences in a student-centered environment that inspires lifelong learners to be honorable citizens who positively impact the world.
ELEMENTARY HEALTH TEKS AND PARENT CONSENT (5th grade parents)
In accordance with Texas Education Code 28.004 and Senate Bill 9, 5th grade students will receive instruction on the required health TEKS specific to abuse prevention and violence prevention.
Under Texas statute, parents/guardians must provide consent for their student to participate in the lessons that address the topics of abuse prevention and violence prevention.
On Tuesday, September 1, 2026, parents/guardians will receive information via email on how to view associated lessons and record their decision for student participation in these lessons.
Below are the windows for both the parent consent and when lessons will be taught:
Parent Consent Window: September 1, 2026 – September 30, 2026
Instruction Window: November 3, 2026 – December 17, 2026
Gifted and Talented Information
Our goal is to screen all Blue Jays that may be a great fit to receive GT services, and we know that YOU know them best! If there are any students that you think would be good candidates to screen for Gifted and Talented services, please complete this super short Google Form. Simbry Wedemeyer will reach out to these families with an “invitation to screen” email.
The graphic includes some things to consider when thinking of who may be a good fit. Please know, though, that it is NO PROBLEM if you recommend a child and they do not qualify for GT services. We just want to make sure that we aren’t missing students who need services and appreciate any insight you may have.
Thank you again for all you do!
