Clear Spring Elementary Updates
Principal's Message
Clear Spring Elementary was recently recognized for having the highest attendance in October that we have seen in the last five years, reaching 96.1 percent. I shared this exciting news with our staff and thanked them for the important role they play. They work hard every day to make school a place where students feel welcomed, supported, and excited to learn.
At the same time, our families deserve a tremendous amount of appreciation. Thank you for getting your children to school each day, even on the mornings when it may feel like an uphill battle. Your commitment makes a real difference. Regular attendance ensures that students receive a well-rounded education and helps prevent gaps in learning.
While 96.1 percent is an amazing accomplishment, we still have that remaining 3.9 percent to aim for. Let’s continue to work together to help every student attend school regularly. If your family is facing attendance challenges, please reach out. We are here to support you and work together to find solutions.
Thank you for all you do for our students and our school community.
Office Reminders
EARLY PICKUP/LATE DROP OFF REMINDERS
LATE ARRIVAL
If you arrive after the 7:45am late bell, please bring your child into the building. For safety reasons, please do not drop your child off and leave the campus without checking in at the office.
Please scan your child’s student ID tag with the scanner in the lobby to check-in.
EARLY PICK-UP
Students must be picked up no later than 2pm to avoid dismissal and bus congestion. We appreciate your cooperation with this important matter.
NOTES FROM HOME/DR. NOTES
Please continue to use the yellow note pads when sending communication to school for your child’s teacher.
Please contact the office if you need more.
Please remember to send notes for any absences as well. Most doctor and dental offices will provide a note for visits if you request it. Notes are required for absences to be coded as lawful.
ABSENCES
Attendance calls will continue to be sent out every day for students that are not in school. Please remember to communicate with your child’s teacher regarding the absence.
Attendance letters will be sent out monthly after absences have reached six or more.
After a student has missed 12 days of school a doctor’s note is required for any future absences.
From the Counselor
Families may notice that we emphasize being our Blazer BEST at Clear Spring Elementary.
Students know that BEST stands for:
Be Productive
Ensure Safety
Stay Respectful
Take Responsibility
November’s classroom lesson focused on what it means to be respectful. Students learned to describe what respect looks like, sounds like, and feels like when it is present in school. We will continue exploring what it means to be our Blazer BEST as students work toward earning the next PBIS reward.
I am always available to help with any questions or concerns! I can be reached via email - Jordater@wcps.k12.md.us or by office phone 301-766-8079.

A huge thank-you goes out to Mrs. Boyer for her hard work and dedication in bringing this project to life. We’re so grateful for the time and care she put into creating a site that helps keep our school community connected and informed.
