As we turn the calendar to May, the finish line for the 2025-2026 school year is officially in sight. With only six weeks remaining, our buildings are buzzing with the energy that only springtime in a school district can bring..

Academic & Athletic Milestones

Our students are currently wrapping up ISAT testing. We are incredibly proud of the hard work they have put in; the academic growth we’ve witnessed throughout the year is a testament to their dedication and the high standards set by our educators.

On the fields and tracks, our spring athletes are hitting their stride. Baseball, softball, golf, and track teams are finishing their regular seasons with strong competitive showings. We look forward to seeing them carry this momentum into their respective post-seasons.

Celebrating Our Students

May is a month of celebration. Our schedule is packed with:

  • Spring music concerts

  • Academic awards ceremonies

  • End-of-year field trips

We encourage family and community members to attend these events. Your presence in the stands and the auditoriums makes a significant difference to our students as they showcase their talents and achievements.

Looking Ahead: May 19th Election

We would also like to remind our patrons of the upcoming supplemental levy election on May 19th. This newsletter contains important details regarding the levy; please take a moment to review this information as you make your plans to vote.

A Note of Gratitude

Finally, we want to express our sincere thanks to our staff, students, and community. This school year has been a success because of your collective support and generosity. Thank you for being such vital partners in our mission to provide a quality education for every student.

Let’s make these final six weeks count!

We are thrilled to share some incredible news regarding one of our own! Our District Activities Director, Scott Miller, has been named the 2026 3A Athletic Director of the Year by the Idaho Athletic Administrators Association (IAAA).

This prestigious award is a testament to Scott’s unwavering dedication to the students, coaches, and families of the Kellogg School District. Managing a comprehensive activities program is no small feat, and Scott consistently goes above and beyond to ensure our programs are run with integrity, passion, and a "students-first" mentality. Whether he is coordinating complex schedules, mentoring our coaching staff, or cheering from the sidelines on a rainy Tuesday night, Scott’s commitment to the Wildcat spirit is evident in everything he does.

Being recognized by his peers across the state of Idaho is a distinct honor that reflects the high standard of excellence he has set for our district.

Please join us in congratulating Scott on this well-deserved achievement! We are lucky to have him leading the way for our student-athletes and activities programs.

Important Changes to I.D.L.A for the 2026-27 School Year Important Changes to I.D.L.A for the 2026-27 School Year

Due to recent changes in Idaho state law (House Bill 940), the Idaho Digital Learning Alliance (IDLA) is implementing new funding and enrollment structures starting in Fall 2026.

While these changes impact the entire state, our district’s status as a Rural District provides our students with unique advantages.

Here is how the new regulations and District 391 policies will work for the upcoming school year:

The "Rural Advantage"

Because Kellogg is classified as a rural district, our families benefit from:

  • Priority Registration: Our students get a one-week head start to register for classes before the general state window opens. This is critical as IDLA now faces a strict statewide enrollment cap.

  • No Course Limits: Unlike urban districts, our students may still enroll in more than two IDLA courses per semester if needed.

Course Fees & District Policy

Under the new state law, course fees are determined by graduation requirements. The Kellogg School District has established the following payment policy:

  • Required Courses ($40): The District will cover the $40 fee only for students who enroll in a course required for graduation that is not currently offered at Kellogg Middle School or Kellogg High School.

  • Dual Credit Courses ($40): The student/family is responsible for the $40 fee.

    • Note: This $40 fee must be paid in full to the District prior to course registration.

  • Elective Courses ($100): If a student chooses to enroll in an IDLA course that is not required for graduation and is not offered at KMS or KHS, the student/family is responsible for the $100 fee.

    • Note: This $100 fee must be paid in full to the District prior to course registration.

  • Full Cost ($445): This applies only to students outside state-funded categories (such as certain private or virtual school enrollments).

Program Changes

To manage new state budget restrictions, IDLA is narrowing its focus:

  • Priority Enrollment: IDLA will focus on Core Classes, Dual Credit, and Credit Recovery.

  • Discontinued Programs: IDLA will no longer offer Driver’s Education or K-5 courses.

Looking Ahead

Because of the new statewide enrollment limits (capped at 40,000 students), early planning and registration are essential. We will notify all families as soon as the Fall 2026 priority registration window is announced.

Questions? Please contact the counseling office at Kellogg Middle School or Kellogg High School to discuss your student’s 2026-27 schedule and how these fee changes may apply.
