Baldwin Secondary Students Teach Financial Literacy at Plaza
Junior Achievement (JA) of New York, a nonprofit organization aiming to educate students about workforce readiness, entrepreneurship, and financial literacy, recently collaborated with Baldwin Union Free School District on the ever-growing “High School and Middle School Heroes” program. The district has partnered with JA for nearly 20 years. Approximately 60 Baldwin High School students along with 20 middle school students aspiring to be teachers taught financial literacy to 18 classes in grades 2-5 at Plaza Elementary School.
Kindergartners and Second Graders Collaborate on Innovative STEM Project
Brookside Elementary School kindergartners and 2nd graders watched their ideas 'take flight' during an innovative STEM project, where they recreated the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade. For the third year in a row, the students learned about the engineering and design process for hot air balloons through the unique hands-on learning experience encompassing computer coding, art design, videography, and ingenuity. Brookside’s parade was empowered by the district’s latest initiative, “Baldwin 2035,” which focuses on repositioning programs and curriculum to effectually teach and prepare students for the future.
