Message from Mr. Parker

Greetings Tiger Nation,

Week 7

This week, we had something BIG to celebrate! 🐯⭐

Pickerington Local School District has earned an incredible 4.5-star rating! ⭐⭐⭐⭐✨

This is an accomplishment worth celebrating because 4.5 stars is not easy to achieve. It reflects the incredible work happening every day by our teachers, support staff, paraprofessionals, custodians, administrators, principals, and everyone who pours into our students. We also celebrated a 98.1% graduation rate!

Our community belongs among the top-performing districts in Central Ohio, and my goal, hope, and dream is that we stay there—and continue to press the envelope.

At Pickerington High School Central, we earned 4 stars out of 5, with the majority of our students scoring proficient or better in ELA II, Algebra I, Geometry, Biology, American History, and American Government.

For us, this is our Super Bowl, National Championship, Masters, World Series, World Cup, and Wimbledon! 🏆 We prepare for these opportunities from Day One, and last year our teachers and students did a phenomenal job preparing, showing up, and SHOWING OUT on game day!

And the accomplishments didn't stop there. Our EL students exceeded their growth goal by 0.5 percentage points by getting high marks on the OELPA Test. 67.3% of our students scored a 3 or higher on their AP exams, earning college credit. We also had 952 College Credit Plus courses taken, with 93% of students earning a C or higher and receiving college credit for their courses.

That was last year. Now, we get back to work.

We are just three weeks away from the end of the first grading period, when students will take ReStart Readiness Tests in our state-tested subject areas. These assessments gauge where our students are in relation to the State Standards and help prepare them for the Ohio State Tests. Most importantly, this information will help us understand where our students are and how we can continue moving their learning forward.

Our motto at Central is one I carried with me from my time at The Ohio State University with Coach Tressel:

MACTE VIRTUTE — Increase in Excellence.

It is a command, not a question.

Let's continue to get behind our students, push our students, and support our students as they strive to Reach Your Full Potential (RYFP).

We have much to celebrate—and even more to accomplish.

Let's keep climbing. Let's keep working. Let's keep Increasing in Excellence.

Greatness Together. ⭐

TIGER UP!!! 🐯

As Always,

Tigers T.I.E.

Paid Volunteer - Poll Worker for November Election

Fairfield County Board of Elections is currently recruiting high school students (age 17 and older, in good academic standing) to serve as Student Election Poll Workers for the upcoming election in Fairfield County on November 3rd. Due to state requirements in the election recruiting process, we hope to get into contact with interested students within the next few weeks so I can answer any questions staff or students may have. Our goal is to allow sufficient time for interested students to schedule a training session in late September or October.

This program offers students the opportunity to:

  • Earn $155.72 for completing training (2 hours) and working on Election Day (all day)
  • Gain valuable service experience for resumes and college applications
  • Deepen their understanding of the election and voting process

School Supplies Information

PHSC does not have a general school supplies list. Each class may have specific supplies for their course and this will be communicated by the teacher at the beginning of the school year. Students need the typical supplies of notebooks, paper, and writing utensils. Students should make sure that their chromebook is charged and ready to go each day. 9th grade students will receive their new chromebook device during the staggered start days on August 18 or August 19.

School Fees

Students and families can pay outstanding school fees online using the links in Infinite Campus. It is important to stay ahead of this as students progress through high school as unpaid fees will affect students' graduation and transcripts their senior year. Please reach out to the school if you have questions or need financial assistance.

Morning Drop Off / Student Parking

Greetings Tiger Families,

To improve student safety during morning arrival, in collaboration with our Student Safety and Security Director, we are making a change to our traffic pattern. During student drop-off and parking, we have experienced several close-call situations as students cross from the parking lot while parents are dropping students off. This adjustment is designed to improve traffic flow and provide a safer arrival experience for everyone.

Beginning at the start of the school year, we ask that you follow these traffic patterns:

  • Student Drivers: Please enter campus through the Hill Rd. West Entrance to access the student parking lot. After parking, please use the designated crosswalks and cross carefully.
  • Parent Drop-Off: Please enter and exit through the Hill Rd. East Entrance.

We will begin the school year using this traffic pattern and will assess its effectiveness as we monitor morning arrival.

Please Note: We ask that everyone respect the parking spaces of our seniors who participated in the Senior Parking Spot Painting tradition. These spaces are reserved for the students who purchased and painted them, and parking regulations will be enforced throughout the school year.

Thank you for your patience, cooperation, and partnership as we work together to keep all of our students safe.

Cell Phone Expectations & Procedures: Creating a Focused Learning Environment Cell Phone Expectations & Procedures: Creating a Focused Learning Environment

open_in_new zoom_out_map

Initiative Updates for the 2026-27 School Year (Cellphones / PCDs)

In accordance with Ohio Revised Code 3313.753 and Pickerington Local School District Board Policy, students are expected to keep their cell phones put away during the school day. This expectation is designed to minimize distractions, maximize student engagement, and foster an environment where all students can focus on learning.

First offense: The phone will be confiscated by an administrator and returned to the student at the end of the school day. Parents/guardians will be notified.

Second offense: The phone will be confiscated, and a parent/guardian will be required to pick it up from the school.

Third offense: The phone will be confiscated, and a parent/guardian conference will be required to develop a plan for future compliance.

We recognize that this expectation requires a strong partnership between school and home. We ask for your support by discussing this expectation with your student before the school year begins, helping them understand the purpose behind it, and reinforcing its importance throughout the year.

Thank you in advance for partnering with us to create a learning environment where students are focused, engaged, and fully present each day. Together, we can ensure that every student has the opportunity to learn in a classroom free from unnecessary distractions.

As Always,
