Permenter Longhorn Check In
November 27 - December 1, 2023
Notes from the Principal📝:
We hope all of our Permenter Longhorns enjoyed this time to spend with families. We have 3 1/2 more weeks until Christmas break and every day is a critical. Please partner with us by ensuring your scholars is at school each day and on time, focused on learning and improvement, and dedicated to avoiding distractions.
- While we may be looking forward to the next wave of holidays, we must be about the important business of teaching and learning. Please encourage your scholar to remain steadfast and focused. Scholars who are found to be in breach of the CHISD Code of Conduct will face the appropriate consequences.
- All scholars will take their district assessments that will serve as their final exam grades for their core classes December 14th, 15th, 18th and 19th. These tests continue to be online and Chromebooks are needed. Please do not schedule conflicting appointments or other obstacles during these critical dates. Additionally, our elective classes will be administering final exams on those dates as well.
- The week before Thanksgiving break was anti-bullying week. In addition to signing a anti-bullying pledge, so many of our scholars participated appropriately in the themed dress days. We are showcasing a few of them on this week's newsletter.
- Please encourage your scholar to make the most of every school day and work to finish strong academically, socially with their interaction with their peers and with their attendance.
- Please be sure to touch base with your scholar's teachers to keep current on their academic progress as well as important deadlines and other academic activities.
- Please encourage your scholar to let a school counselor or administrator know if they are having conflict with others. Some of our scholars are making unhealthy choices to resolve problems and it is resulting in unsafe practices. We want our school to have a productive teaching and learning environment. Please partner with us to help make this happen.
- Please make note that all middle school scholars must wear their ID badges to all CHISD athletic functions and be accompanied by their parents/guardians. This does not include one adult accompanying different scholars that they do not serve as their parent/guardian.
- The grace period for unnatural hair color expired October 5th. All hair color must now be within CHISD dress code or consequences will be applied. We have started this process after weeks of grace and there still seems to be much confusion. Please be sure to read the dress code carefully so we are all on one accord.
- There has been a revision to our standard of dress for scholars each week. Please make note of the change regarding Fridays. Scholars can now wear college/university tops on Fridays with jeans as another option beyond CHISD spirit attire.
- Families are financially responsible for lost or damaged Chromebooks. Insurance is available and worth the investment. Click here to learn more information and sign up for insurance for your scholar's Chromebook.
- It is imperative that all scholars bring their charged Chromebooks with them daily. We need all scholars present, on time, focused and committed to their personal scholastic achievement.
Faithfully,

Toys for Tots
Please send a toy with your scholar through December 4th to donate to Toys for Tots! We have a large collection box in our front office just waiting for more donations.
Social Media Tips
Please monitor your scholar's social media activity and encourage them to make good choices. We tend to see an uptick after school breaks in disruptive and distracting behaviors due to the down time of breaks and social media habits. Please partner with us.
