Warhawk Culture

At WCHS, we know that a school community is a human system first and an educational system second. We believe that the people we work with, learn from, and grow alongside are the biggest factors in our happiness and overall personal development.

As we head into the upcoming week, we have an opportunity to say "THANK YOU" to the many amazing individuals who inspire, motivate, support, and encourage us to be the best versions of ourselves.

May 4–8, 2026 marks National Teacher Appreciation Week!

As we celebrate, we want to recognize and honor the incredible impact our Warhawk Teachers have had on our entire school community this year. We are immensely proud to be part of such an elite and dedicated group of educators who embody the spirit of WCHS through their pursuit of excellence, belief that we are better together, and commitment to owning their actions, attitude, and words to make WCHS elite.

May 4, 2026 is Ohio School Bus Driver Appreciation Day!
We are incredibly grateful for our dedicated WCHS bus drivers who ensure our students travel safely to and from school each day. Your professionalism and commitment are essential to our school's success. Thank you for all you do!

May 6, 2026 marks National School Nurse Day!
We are so fortunate to have THE BEST school nurse at WCHS — Mrs. Amanda Ward! Thank you, Mrs. Ward, for all you do to keep our students and staff healthy, safe, and cared for every day. WE APPRECIATE YOU!

May 1–7, 2026 marks National Physical Education and Sport Week!
A special shout-out to our outstanding Warhawk PE/Health Department — Mr. Minney, Mrs. Nieman and Mr. Hageman — for providing our students with a wide range of opportunities to develop healthy and active lifestyles. Your work is essential to helping our Warhawks thrive — WE APPRECIATE YOU!

Thank you to everyone who makes WCHS such a special place to learn, grow, and have FUN!

Wings Up,

Dawn Sayre

Principal

Westerville Central High School

Our Warhawk Blueprint outlines what we believe, how we behave and outcomes we hope to achieve together at WCHS. These beliefs are our guidepost that provide alignment in all we do.

Clinic Updates

Hello Warhawk Families!

As we head into May, I wanted to share a few quick health office reminders:

  • Medication pick-up: All student medications will be sent home with students on the last day of school unless a parent/guardian chooses to pick them up. If medications are not picked up or taken home, they will be safely destroyed per policy.

  • Controlled medications: These must be picked up by a parent/guardian or designated adult—students cannot take these home on their own.

  • Next school year medication forms: Medication authorization forms need to be updated every school year, so please plan ahead if your student will need medication at school in the fall. All forms are on the Health Services page under “Medical Forms”, or in Schoolcare

  • Incoming seniors: A reminder that students entering 12th grade are required to have the meningitis (quadrivalent) booster on file by the first day of school, or they may be excluded until documentation is provided.

  • ALL Students that do not have immunizations required by state law or an exemption form on file for any missing immunizations, will not be permitted to attend school starting 9/3/26

  • Immunizations REQUIRED by Ohio State Law

  • Places to get immunizations done: FCPH CPH Delaware Co., any local pharmacy or grocery store clinic

Wishing everyone a safe, healthy, and relaxing summer! If you have any questions, feel free to reach out anytime.

Take care,

Amanda Ward, RN
