BMS Specific School Supply Kits - Order Now!

Last year, we provided a service to families through 1st day school supplies where families can order a kit of school supplies and have it delivered directly to BMS for you to pick up instead of having to go shopping for supplies yourselves. Feedback from families was very positive! The kits were designed specifically for the supplies our teachers have requested students have. When I did a cost comparison, the prices beat Amazon and Walmart. If you would like to save yourself the trouble of school supply shopping. Order here: 1stDay.sale/598080263. Orders are due by July 1st.

Library Returns

We will be closing the library to new checkouts on June 2nd, so that our Library Aide Ms. Madison can inventory and ensure we have all of our books returned. If you have any overdue books at home, now is a great time to get those returned. 8th graders will be required to return all of the books they have checked out as a part of their checkout process from BMS. Students who have lost books will have fines added to their account on June 9th and those will need to be paid prior to moving on to the high school. Thank you for your help with this.

8th Grade Promotion

We will be having our 8th grade Promotion Ceremony to mark our students' transition to high school on June 10th, from 6-7 pm in the BMS Gym. Families are invited to attend this meaningful event! Due to space constraints, we are hoping families can aim for 5 or fewer attendees (not counting their 8th grader), but we will not be issuing tickets for this event. Seating will be first come first served, last year we had just enough, and we hope for the same this year. Several families have asked us if there is a dress code for the students. We ask that students dress in something on the nicer side, "business casual" or "semi formal," but jeans are okay if they do not have more formal attire.

8th grade Oaks Park Trip

Each year we take eligible 8th graders to Oaks Park to celebrate the end of middle school and the transition to high school! This year's trip will be on June 10th, the same day as Promotion. Lunch will be provided, thanks to Mr. Rizzo and his grill! This will also be the last day of school for 8th graders.

To qualify for this trip, 8th grade students must meet the following requirements for the last quarter of the school year:

  • Passing 5 or more classes with a D or higher. This is modeled after the the OSAA participation guidelines for high school sports and activities.
  • 4 or less minor behavior referrals.
  • Major referrals will be addressed and assessed on a case by case basis.
  • If there are concerns about a student's behavior, we will require their parent to attend the trip.

We are looking forward to a positive end of the year with our 8th graders!

Field Trip Chaperones

We have some field trips coming up this spring, parents wishing to chaperone must have an up to date background check on file with the school district. You can access the background check form here!

Bottle Drop Fundraiser for Leadership

Leadership is kicking off our first fundraiser of the year! We are now a BottleDrop Give organization and participating using “blue bags”.

Once you fill the bag, you can:

1) Have your student pick up a blue bag with QR code sticker from Ms. King

2) Return it to Mrs. King full of cans/bottles and she will take it to a BottleDrop

3) You can also return it to a BottleDrop location and make sure they scan the BMS Leadership QR code.

Homework Club

Homework club is an after school activity where students can work on school work in a supervised setting. Homework club is from 3:15-4:00 on Tuesday and Thursday in the library. Permission slips are required, students can get a permission slip in the office. Please note, a student needs to have work to do during homework club. It is not a place to "hang out" or pass time after school. Also note that attendance is not taken, please be aware of your child's homework club attendance plans ahead of time and ensure they have a way home, as transportation is not provided.
