This year, we’re bringing new energy to our ROOTS to SUCCESS motto by helping students grow in a different character skill each month. Students explore these skills through classroom counseling lessons, schoolwide conversations and activities, and our monthly ROOTS Challenge.

ROOTS Students of the Month

Congratulations to our October ROOTS Students of the Month, recognized for demonstrating RESPONSIBILITY. We are proud of these Austin Innovators for showing us that "learning starts with me!" ā¤ļøšŸ’™

NOVEMBER ROOTS FOCUS: PERSEVERANCE

Big Idea: When things get hard, we keep going.

This month, we’re helping students understand that perseverance means continuing to work through challenges—even when something feels difficult, frustrating, or doesn’t work the first time. Students will practice using strategies, asking for help when needed, and remembering that effort helps us grow.

ROOTS Challenge: KEEP GOING

Challenge yourself to keep trying when something feels hard instead of giving up.

This month, be on the lookout for our new ROOTS @ Home guide with practical tips and simple strategies to help grow PERSEVERANCE and strengthen learning habits at home.

Celebrate Growth!

With first quarter behind us and second quarter well underway, there is so much to celebrate! Our students have worked hard, learned new things, built friendships, overcome challenges, and grown in ways that go far beyond academics.

As we reflect on their progress, I want to encourage families to celebrate all the ways your children are growing. Academic achievement is important, but so are the skills that help children become confident, capable, and caring individuals. Learning to manage big feelings, navigate friendships, work through challenges, ask for help, and keep trying when things get difficult are all important parts of success.

As always, please don't hesitate to reach out if you have questions or concerns about your child's academic, social, or emotional well-being. I'm always happy to partner with you to support your child's success!

Buzzing with gratitude,

Stephanie Bradford
