Good Evening Placerita Families...

We are finally here. The beginning of school is on Tuesday, August 11th. There are a lot of very important things to remember to do between now and then. We had a very successful registration drive through this past week. Students will be attending class during each period just like regular school with some type of live interaction every period. See the schedule above for this week in GREEN and then the regular weekly schedule in Blue, Gold and Green below it.

I am so sorry that this Prospector has so much important information in it, but there are so many things we need to communicate before the start of school.

Most Important - All our students will be doing their school work through their Hart District Google account. There are instructions below on how to log in. You will need your ID number to complete that process. You can find your ID number on your temporary ID from registration OR parents can view it in the parent's Infinite Campus account. It will be a number something like 99001234. All communications with Placerita staff and teachers will take place through student's Hart District Google email accounts. Please view the video below for a full description if you have not logged in already.

Very Important - Students also have an Infinite Campus (IC) account to view their schedules, attendance and grades. There are instructions below on how to log into your IC account. You will have to be logged into your District account in a browser to easily log into your IC account. If a student is logged into a personal account or your parent's personal account, the student will not be able to log into their IC account.

Also Very Important - Students' classes will be driven through Google Classroom. There is a video below about how to access your Google Classrooms for the first time. In order to see your classes and your assignments and complete assignments you will need to learn how to log in each period of the day.

Summary

1) Each student's Hart District Google Account is what drives their communication with school.

2) Each student and parent has an Infinite Campus Account where Schedules, grades and attendance can be viewed.

3) Each student will access 6 Google Classrooms (One for each period) to access assignments as well as Google Meet or Zoom locations for class. Some type of live instruction will be taking place every day in every period.

Lunches will be served at school sites. Students that are a part of the free and reduced lunch program can get their lunches at school and other students can purchase their lunch if they would like to. Each lunch is a grab and go bagged lunch.

We are also in the process of completing a live release video for the evening before the first day of school. (7:00 PM ) It will be on the Placerita TV YouTube Channel. Look below for what the Placerita TV YouTube Channel looks like. The URL for Placerita TV is https://www.youtube.com/user/placeritakidflix. If you have not found it yet, you should go check out the video productions on Placerita TV. It was the first TV production team through KidFlix Productions in our valley. After you find is please subscribe so you can find is easily later.

After we get started with school our campus will be open by appointment only. We will still be having different drive-through activities like picking up musical instruments and such.

Our Schedules are very tight and fixed as of this afternoon. We will not be able to adjust schedules because we are two teachers smaller than we were last year and we have several more restrictions in the schedule based on our current online learning status. We are not allowed to have any student service classes at this time. Schedules will be visible on Infinite Campus on Monday. We do still have some room in our MUSIC Department so if you have ever had any interest in playing an instrument please email Ms. Long at klong@hartdistrict.org and she will help answer your questions.

We look forward to meeting our new families and getting to know you all even though it may different from the beginning of a regular school year. We are going to work on finding creative ways to get to know each of your students. There is a lot of information below so please take your time to look through each part.

This is very important that you complete this process. You will keep getting emails until we get it complete so everything is all set in our system. If you have not, more instructions are included below. You may have received an email from our registrar Sonia Martinez about completion. If you are having difficulty please email her at smmartinez@hartdistrict.org and she will work with you. Everyone must complete this process before we begin school.

Don't Forget... Our Make-up Registration day is MONDAY, August 10th. If you were not able to make it earlier this week we look forward to seeing you on Monday between 8 and 10 AM.

Bring any paperwork with you that have completed from your packets you received. You will be getting your temporary ID, your planner and your textbooks. We will not be taking pictures until we return to school.

VERY IMPORTANT - If you did not return your textbooks last spring PLEASE bring them with you and drop them off as you get your new books.

The presentation was created by our librarian Mrs. Ludlow and many students have used it successfully to log in to Google for the first time.

This is the only account that students can be logged into to do your school work so it is very important to log in before the first day of school. Also, your teachers will be emailing you information to that email account.

Infinite Campus is where we keep all our records for you for school. Students and parents will have their logins to view grades throughout the year. Parents can follow student progress.

The Picture below is what the login page looks like. Click Sign in with Google and will take you into your IC account.

Access a form for requesting a Chromebook in the 7th Grade Button or the 8th Grade Button. We have some Hot Spots ordered and will only have a limited number. Hot Spots will have parent controls built into them and will have time limit controls. See the Hot Spot form below to request a Hot Spot.

Our google classrooms have been set and ready for students to join. Here is the breakdown. These codes below are for students to join our Counseling Classroom. We would like for our students to start adding themselves to this classroom already. We have also started an instagram page for the counseling department. It is "@placeritajhcounseling". This info is also on our counseling webpage. Encourage your students to join the classroom and follow the counselors on instagram. See the codes below.

Dear Friends,

Supervisor Kathryn Barger's office, along with the LA Regional Food Bank and the County of Los Angeles, is hosting a drive-thru food distribution event at the Castaic Sports Complex Aquatic Center on Wednesday, August 12th from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm. This event will provide family-sized boxes of free food to community members. There are no eligibility requirements, and the event is open to all.

The Castaic Regional Sports Complex, Aquatic Center is located at 31350 Castaic Road, Castaic 91384. This drive-thru giveaway provides family-sized boxes of free food to community members. There are no eligibility requirements and the event is open to all. When you arrive in your car, please follow the posted signs to the pick-up area and wear a mask. There was an envelope included in your registration packet that had information about the Placerita Foundation. The Placerita Parent Organization does all of it's fundraising through the Foundation and all the monies go directly back into the classrooms. There was information in your packet about all the things the Foundation does for our school. This year there will be added costs for many different things that we could use your help with. This is our major fundraiser for the year through donations at the beginning of the year. Thanks for all your help!
