It's hard to believe we are at the end of the first nine weeks of school!

Parent-teacher conferences at Big Creek have wrapped up, and we are grateful for the opportunity to celebrate our students' growth and accomplishments with our families. The Big Creek community takes great pride in the strong partnership between school and home, and we appreciate the time parents and guardians took to connect with our teachers. Together, we continue to support and encourage the success of every student, and we look forward to building on the progress made throughout the year.

Because of the support of the 2025 Dr. Jim and Peggie Morrow Glow Run, we gave out 20 $2,500 scholarships to FCS educators who are pursuing further education!

We would like to invite you to participate in the 2026 Dr. Jim and Peggie Morrow Glow Run on 11/1 at Forsyth Central High School! This year, all participants will receive a custom Glow Run medal and t-shirt.

When registering, please be sure to select Big Creek Elementary as your team so our participation counts toward the school competition.

Dear Big Creek Families,

We have an exciting math opportunity for our students. Big Creek will be a host center for the annual Math Kangaroo Competition. Registration is now open for our 1st-5th grade students. In order for your child to participate, you will need to register them for this event.

Who: current 1st-5th grade Big Creek students. We will not host students from other schools, so please do not share our code.

Date: Thursday, March 18th 2027

Time: 8:00-9:30

Cost: $20

If you are new to Math Kangaroo, please read Math Kangaroo History. Check out their practice resources, too.

Here are the steps to register for parents:

1. Click this link: https://mathkangaroo.oasis-lms.com/Users/LearningActivityInformation.aspx?LearningActivityID=L6mPD1AfqgMWNmi3z1mtwQ%3d%3d

2. You will need to log in to your Math Kangaroo account, or create a Math Kangaroo account if you do not have one.

3. Copy and paste this code in the field Invitation Code if asked: GACUMMI0015001@2027MC

4. Do not share the code with anyone outside of Big Creek, please.

Information about the test and its logistics:

75 minutes multiple choice test.

24 questions for students in grades 1, 2, 3 and 4.

30 Questions for students in grades 5 and up.

Students can NOT take home their competition booklets after the test. The paper tests, the answer sheets, and the scratch paper must stay with the proctor.

Answer key will be available one month and one day after the original International competition day.

The winners’ list will be posted on the website by June 1.

Registered students who do not attend the competition can claim their competition items from the center manager after April 1 and before June 1.

Top winners will be invited to the awards ceremony by email in June if such a ceremony takes place.
