ATTENTION PARENTS/GUARDIANS OF 6TH GRADERS: DOES YOUR STUDENT HAVE THE REQUIRED MEDICAL SHOTS FOR 7TH GRADE?
Texas requires all incoming 7th graders to have a Tetanus booster (Tdap) and a Meningococcal vaccine prior to enrollment in 7th grade. The Meningococcal vaccine must be specified on the shot record as MCV4, Menveo, Menactra or MenACWY. Children can begin receiving these immunizations at age 11. It is possible that your student has already received them.
If your student has received these vaccines, please submit the record to the school nurse as soon as possible. Per State law, on the first day of school (August 12, 2020) any student who does not have the State required vaccines will be sent home and cannot attend classes until the school has received the record.
Please do not wait until August to get the required shots as doctor’s offices and clinics run out of them due to high demand. If your doctor is out of the vaccine, it does not excuse your student.
If you have any questions, or if you want to check the status of your student’s record, please call the school nurse.

A Reminder from the Nurse:
The Standard of Care for Little Elm ISD is aligned with those of the National Association of School Nurses. It is our goal to keep children in class. We will endeavor to send home only those children who are truly ill, or who present a direct threat to the wellness of their classmates. If your child becomes ill, please follow these reminder:
If you child has a contagious illness, please see your family doctor and adhere to medical advice.
If your child has a fever at home or at school they need to be 24 hours fever free without fever-reducing medication to return to school.
Please turn-in all parent and doctor notes to the front office.
For the safety and protection of all students, medication cannot be possessed or transported by students, except for students authorized to carry medication for life-threatening situations.
All medication including cough drops must be checked into the Nurse by the parent or guardian and shall be secured in the clinic at all times.
The Cook Children's Telemedicine Program is Available at All LEISD Campuses
Through high definition telemedicine video and communications equipment, the school nurse can connect with a Cook Children's pediatric provider for quick assessment and treatment to care for your child while at school. Learn more about the Telemedicine Program at www.littleelmisd.net.
EVERY SCHOOL DAY COUNTS!!!
Showing up to school everyday has a huge impact on student's academic success. Excused or unexcused impacts student's course grades, course credit, academic performance on state testing, and is a powerful predictor of student drop out. In addition, students who fall below the 90 percent law are at danger of losing course credit or receiving a final grade. Please help us to improve student attendance and ensure every student is present everyday.
