Tick Warning - Several have been found on students

As your children enjoy spending time outdoors, please be mindful of ticks, which thrive in grassy, brushy, and wooded areas. Check your child's body and clothing daily—paying close attention to their scalp, behind the ears, and skin folds—and remove any attached ticks promptly using fine-tipped tweezers.

Prevention and Removal Tips

  • Daily Checks: Inspect your child from head to toe after outdoor play.
  • Wash Clothing: Ticks can hide on clothing; wash and dry outdoor clothes on high heat.
  • Safe Removal: If a tick is found, use tweezers to pull it straight out from the skin, then wash the area thoroughly.
  • Watch for Symptoms: Monitor your child for a rash, fever, or fatigue in the weeks following a bite.

When a tick is found on your student while he/she is at school, the office will contact parents to make them aware of the incident. If the tick is embedded, parents will be reached to decide how to proceed with the removal.
