Greetings. I want to welcome everyone to the "official" start of our 2024 - 2025 Student Council School Year. I once again want to congratulate each member who was selected by their peers to represent their grade. Our council prides itself on working throughout the year to serve the students, staff, and community members of The Gibraltar School District.

Student Council members are held to a high standard and as a reminder, each member has been provided this document and returned it signed as of this date.

Each Sunday I do send a newsletter to all members to keep everyone updated on events. I usually do not include parents because I try to cut back on spamming Parent Square messages. The link for every newsletter is shared in our Schoology Group (students need to enroll) and via our X/Twitter account (@StucoAdvisor). If you want to see future messages they can be found in both of those locations.

If parents have any questions about our council feel free to reach out and I will get back to you quickly. I look forward to working with this group of leaders this school year.

Our program would not run so well without the help of our amazing class sponsors/advisers. Here are the class advisers for the 2024 - 2025 school year:

• Class of 2025: Ms. Torres and Ms. Trush
• Class of 2026: Ms. Fournier and Ms. Gouin
• Class of 2027: Ms. Stefani and Ms. B Madgwick
• Class of 2028: Ms. Boucher and Ms. Begeman

Grade-level questions about class activities can be directed to these staff members.

If you plan to submit a design for our 2024 - 2025 shirt design it is due by our meeting on Monday 8/12/24. It can be in digital form or on paper if that is your thing. If your design is selected you will win a free t-shirt (or the cash value of the t-shirt to purchase a more expensive clothing item.) As of this morning I have one submission.

I hope everyone is having a great summer. It will not be long and fall sports will be starting up and we will be hosting our summer meeting (more on that later). I need member information forms from a few of you. Please complete this Google Form ASAP if you are listed here.

Based on the summer meeting survey, our meeting will take place on Monday 8/12/24. Executive board and all NEW first year members report at 11:30 a.m. all other members please report at noon. The meeting will take place in the library and students can enter using the auditorium doors. Please do not enter areas marked off/closed.

This is the first day of fall sports, please do not miss your first practice/try-out

When facing challenges remember that you have the power to focus on what you can control. Instead of reacting impulsively, take 15 minutes to practice taking a deep breath and pausing to analyze before responding. Giving ourselves space to think helps us communicate more clearly and learn more about our emotions.
