School Site Council

It was brought to our attention that the Parent Nomination link was not active. It's been fixed, and we are extending the deadline until Friday, August 29th.

Dewey Elementary is in the process of accepting nominations for our School Site Council (SSC). The SSC is an elected body composed of the principal, teachers, other school personnel, and parents/community. We are in need of 3 parent representatives to join our team. The SSC team meets 5-8 times per year depending upon action items needing discussion/approval.

Complete the Annual Student Information Update by Aug. 31

As we prepare for a successful new school year, San Juan Unified School District encourages families to complete the Annual Student Information Update as soon as possible.

The Annual Student Information Update asks families to update emergency contact information, complete the school funding form, get the 2025-26 family handbook and review demographic information to help schools prepare for the new school year.

Visit sanjuan.edu/parentportal to complete the Annual Student Information Update by Aug. 31. Watch a video tutorial available in multiple languages at sanjuan.edu/tutorial.

PFO Corner

Save the Date:

Monday, September 8 at 6pm in Room 14 for our first PFO meeting of the year! We will have a Zoom link available for those unable to attend in person. We would love to have at least one representative from each class. Topics on the docket will be Fall Festival, upcoming fundraisers, and ways the PFO can support Dewey!

Dewey Shirt Pre Orders:

If you preordered a brand new Dewey shirt at the Back to School Picnic, you should have received your shirt last week. If you did not receive it, please email PFOHarryDewey@gmail.com.

Membership Drive:

Support Dewey in a way that fits your schedule! By joining the PFO, you help fund programs, support teachers and build community - no meeting attendance required (although we would LOVE if you attended). Every membership makes a difference! As if that wasn't enough, the class with the highest participation rate will receive an extra page in the yearbook dedicated just to them! Remember, teachers, staff, parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles can all become members of the PFO!
