Parent Pick Up Information
PLEASE wait in the church parking lot until 3:25pm Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday and 2:05 on Wednesday dismissal days.
This allows buses and vans to pick get through. There are a small number of families that we identify to come up early due to student safety at dismissal. Otherwise please stage in the church parking lot.
Following this plan ensures a smooth and safe process for all- it also helps your neighbors and friends- bypassing this process creates a traffic jam and slows the process down for everyone.
(Please follow the lines- with the lead car waiting at the star and then leaving the parking lot at 3:25 (2:05).
Back To School Nights
Tuesday, September 30- Back to School Night - 1st and 2nd graders 6:00-6:45 (Students and caregiver!)
Thursday, October 9 - Back to School Night - Kindergarten and Preschool 6:00-6:45 (Students and caregiver)
Over the past couple of years we have tried to make our Back to School nights more informative and engaging.
This year we are asking you to come with your children and let them be the leaders to show you the spaces in which they are settling in! Throughout the fall we will share more information about curriculum and what to expect this year. During the Back to School Night, classrooms will have more information for you to see and learn about. Later we will have a more indepth opportunity to hear about our Literacy program.
Attendance at Davis
If your child is going to be out of school, or tardy, or dismissed, please remember to call our Attendance Line at 781-918-4965. You can leave a message on this line anytime, day or evening. Please call before 9am if your child will be absent on any given day and before 1:15pm if your child's dismissal is in need of change.
We have added an email address: davis_attendance@bedfordps.org as an option to report any absences or dismissal changes for your students.
Whether you call in or email, it is very helpful if you state your child's full name and teacher. Thank you!
Required Forms for Volunteering
All adults (over 18 years of age) that are volunteering and/or visiting the school for programming must have a valid CORI, SORI, and signed confidentiality agreement on file before volunteering/visiting.
Starting 9/20/24, the district adopted a 3-year expiration for the CORI/SORI. If your last CORI/SORI was processed on 9/20/24 or after, it is valid for 3 years. If you submitted your most recent CORI/SORI before that date, you will need to fill out new forms this school year, and they will be valid for 3 years. You may call the Davis Office or email us to check if you have a valid CORI/SORI on file.
To be in full compliance with our HR Department and the State, all CORI/SORI forms MUST BE SUBMITTED in person, with a valid picture ID, ONLY by the person whose name appears on the form. Forms cannot be accepted via kid mail, email, or spouse, etc.
Please plan ahead and allow at least 1 week for processing, so that you don’t get stuck and are prohibited from volunteering.
Forms are applicable for all 4 schools in the district, so you only need to fill out forms at one school (i.e. if you fill out forms at Davis, you do not need to fill out forms at Lane).
News From Nurse Jen (New)
This week we will be starting our hearing and vision screenings for all Davis students per MDPH regulations. The tests are used as a screening tool only; if a student is not able to pass the screening then your child will need to be evaluated by the appropriate health care specialist. Please email me at jennifer_capece@bedfordps.org if you would like to opt-out of this screening for your child.
I will be following up with parents via letter only if your child has not passed the screening requirements. If you do not hear from me that means that your child passed the hearing and vision screens.
If your child needs to have further vision testing by an eye specialist, and financial concerns are an issue, please contact me at the health office and I will give you information about a community program that provides financial assistance for eye exams and glasses.
Parent Diversity Council News (New)

Save the Date - October 23! New this year will be a multicultural potluck for Davis families, in partnership with BEST PTO. This after school event will allow families to bring in dishes representing their country or culture to share with other families, and/or host booths to share some games or facts about their culture with others. News from BEST PTO (Updated)
Are you interested in playing a leadership role at Davis or Lane Elementary?
The BEST PTO would like to announce the following openings:
- TWO parent/guardian openings on the Davis School Advisory Council
- ONE community member opening on the Lane School Advisory Council
- ONE parent/guardian opening on the Lane School Advisory Council
If you are interested in applying for any of these positions, please complete the form below. All applicants will need to provide a short bio and response as to why they are interested in this opportunity.
Applications must be submitted no later than Friday, September 26th.
The Advisory Council at each school (Davis Elementary & Lane Elementary) is composed of the school principal, two teachers, three parents, and up to two community representatives.
These Site-Based Councils were created under the Education Reform Act of 1993 to decentralize decision-making and strengthen school communities.
The role of the Site Council is to advise the principal on school-related matters. All members, other than the principals, are elected for two-year terms. The council meets once a month during business hours via Zoom. Community representatives must live in Bedford and cannot be a parent or a guardian of a child in the school.
This is a great opportunity to learn about our elementary schools, contribute to the Bedford elementary school community, and work with the school administration.
