Note from Admin Team
Greetings Wildcats,
It was an awesome week at Trailridge. Our students did a fantastic job and really brought the energy. Monday is the first Chiefs football game, so please encourage your student to dress in red!
Also, our school fundraiser Traversing the Trail, is still going on. Please encourage your student to participate. Our school goal is $17000! See below for more details.
Have a wonderful weekend!

Traversing the Trail!
Today we kicked off our only school fundraiser with an awesome assembly. We partner with our PTA to put on Traversing the Trail. Each student received directions and an envelope today. The flyer below also contains more information and how to donate.
The goal this year is to raise at least $17,000 as a building. A portion of that money goes to our PTA and the other portion goes towards our school. We are working towards finalizing an experience for our students as the big ticket item. The remaining money earned will go towards our students in the form of field trips, celebration days, and experiences.
Here is a presentation that contains the information that we shared with our students today. Each student also brought home an envelope to keep the money that they raise. Donations can be made by cash, check or by using the QR code on the flyer below.
KTOY - Kansas Teacher of the Year
We are so fortunate to have tremendous teachers at Trailridge. They are dedicated to our students and go above and beyond to help them excel. Each year we have the opportunity to nominate a teacher for their outstanding work. I encourage you, or your student, to consider nominating one of our teachers. Here is the link to nominate a teacher. It is a tremendous honor and we appreciate you taking the time to recognize them.
Trailridge Clubs and Activities!
e Bike/Scooter Safety
We have seen a significant increase in the number of students riding electronic scooters, bikes and motorcycle style electronic bikes to school. With that increase, I felt it was important to push out a message about safety and a few regulations about operating at Trailridge.
- Remember to lock up your items at the bike racks. We are not responsible for any lost or damaged items.
- All bikes or scooters (motorized or not) need to be walked while on campus.
- We highly recommend wearing a helmet when operating any bike or scooter (motorized or not).
- Motorized scooters or e-bikes are not to be ridden at any time on camps. This includes turf fields or sidewalks.
- Lastly, as it is displayed below, "motorcycle-style vehiclesā require a permit to be driven in the city of Lenexa. They may also not be ridden on sidewalks. Because our school is in Lenexa "motorcycle-style vehiclesā as displayed below will not be permitted to be used on campus. If your student is using that to get to school, they need to have an alternate plan beginning on Monday. An announcement was made today during 7th hour to inform our students.
Thank you for your help with this and for ensuring our students stay safe while at school.

As a result of Kansas House Bill 2299, Parent Square is the district's new communication platform. All school communication will go through Parent Square. Below are important links on how you can get registered and setup with Parent Square.

26-27 School Year Physicals
Student athlete physicals for the 2026-2027 school year must be completed after April 1st, 2026. Here is the updated KSHSSA Physical Packet that must be completed.
DO NOT SEND 26-27 PHYSICALS TO SCHOOL AT THIS TIME. We have a new procedure for the 26-27 school year that we will share in our summer newsletter.
Bound
Athletes must be registered in Bound and be cleared for participation before they can participate in practices or tryouts. The school cannot do this for you. BOUND LINK.
If you registered your athlete in Bound, but they have not been cleared, it is likely because their physical has not been uploaded, or you did not save the answers to the questions on the KSHSAA eligibility form. Go back in and submit those items.
If you have any questions, please contact Kelsey McCall kelseymccall@smsd.org.
Student Athlete Handbook
Attached is the Trailridge Student Athlete Handbook. This handbook reviews policies and procedures for being an athlete at Trailridge. Please review this handbook at your convenience.

ALL SPORTS
Academic grade are on Mondays.. Students who have an F in any class will be assigned Homework Club for the week on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday. They will report to Homework Club before they can go to practice. When Homework Club ends, they will be sent to practice with a pass from the Homework Club supervisor. Teachers are responsible for grade updates once a week (not daily), so athletes may need to attend Homework Club for several days before returning to full practice. If a student is able to improve their grade during the week and the teacher is able to sign off on their Homework Club sheet, they may be able to be excused from Homework Club early. Please emphasize the importance of academics with your student athlete. If your child has a failing grade, and you have questions, please reach out to the teacher for the class they are failing.

Additional Trailridge Information
ATTENDANCE IS IMPORTANT!
INFORMATION ABOUT TRUANCY
The administration of Trailridge may begin to request documentation for all absences after the 10th absence in a school year. Absences without a doctor's note or administrative approval may be recorded as unexcused. A student with three consecutive unexcused absences, five unexcused absences in a semester, or seven unexcused absences in a year is considered TRUANT according to Kansas State statues. A truancy report may be filed with the Johnson County District Attorney's office.
Extended Absences by parent request for family and/or personal reasons are acceptable provided arrangements are made through the building principal (matthewengler@smsd.org ) in advance of the absence. These absences will count toward total absences. Students are responsible to complete all make-up work.
Attendance Hotline: (913) 993-1012
If your child will be late or out of school for any reason, please make sure to leave a message on the 24/7 hotline or report it online through your Skyward account no later than 9:30 a.m. This is important so that we can excuse the absence.
Early pickups - we simply ask that you call the main line (913-993-1000) when you are on the way (about 5-10 minutes prior to arriving) and come into the office (door 1 on the west side of the building) with your identification. We will have your student ready for you in the office.
