Welcome Back, Spring ISD!

We're excited to kick off another incredible year of learning, discovery, growth, and unforgettable moments with our students, families, and staff!

To help everyone start the 2026–2027 school year with confidence, we've gathered important resources and information to make the transition safe, smooth, and successful.

Thank you for choosing Spring ISD! No matter which Spring ISD school your child attends, our mission remains the same: to provide an excellent education that prepares every student for lifelong success in college, a career, and/or the military. Visit the Choose Spring website to see all of our schools and discover the opportunities waiting for your child.

The annual Online Returning Student Registration for the 2026-27 school year is still open for all returning Spring ISD students. To ensure a strong start for the upcoming academic year, all returning students must complete the form.

You should have received your student's "snapcode" in your email. You can find the steps for this process in the Parent Guide with detailed instructions and screenshots.

If you have any questions, please visit www.springisd.org/returning-students, contact your campus, or call our district support number at 281-891-6337.

Spring ISD provides bus transportation for eligible students who live more than one mile from their zoned campus, as measured by the nearest commonly traveled public roadway.

To determine whether your child is eligible for bus service, click here.

Students in Pre-K and Kindergarten MUST be registered for bus service before they may ride the bus home from school. Registration forms are available at your child's campus. Registration forms are available from the student's campus. For the safety of our youngest riders, an approved adult must be present at the designated bus stop to receive all Pre-K and Kindergarten students.

Once a student is approved for bus service, the parent or guardian will be issued a Personal Identification Number (PIN). Anyone meeting the bus to pick up the student must provide the driver with the student's PIN, either verbally or by showing it to the driver. If the person at the bus stop cannot provide the PIN, or if no authorized person is present to receive the student, the student will be returned to the school. The parent or guardian will then need to pick up the student from the campus.

We understand some students may walk or ride bikes to school. We encourage all parents to talk with their students about using sidewalks when available, crossing the street at designated crosswalks and obeying all traffic laws.

Parents, if you opt to drive your child to school, it’s important for the safety of all students that you comply with each campus’ designated traffic-flow plan. Your principal will make you aware of drop-off and pick-up procedures at the beginning of the school year. Be considerate, drive slowly in school zones, and remember that aggressive driving has no place on or near our campuses and will be fined for failing to adhere to bus safety laws.

The SMART tag system is designed to increase the safety and security of students who use school bus transportation. A secure on-board tablet on each school bus records when and where students get on and off their bus and provides bus arrival notifications for school administrators and parents.

Students who use bus transportation will receive an ID card that must be used when boarding and exiting the bus. By tapping the card on the reader, the SMART tag system helps verify that students are riding the correct bus and getting off at the correct stop. Students who need a replacement card should contact their campus administrator. Watch this video to learn more about the SMART tag system!

Spring ISD is committed to the safety of every student and staff member. Every day, we take proactive steps to help ensure our schools remain safe, secure, and welcoming places to learn and work.

Safety Measures

Clear Backpacks: All students are required to use clear or mesh backpacks.
Entrance Screening: All campuses utilize OPENGATE weapon detection systems.
To ensure clear and consistent communication during emergencies, all campuses follow the Standard Response Protocol (SRP). This nationally recognized system uses five response actions: Hold, Secure, Lockdown, Evacuate, and Shelter.

Secure vs. Lockdown: Know the Difference

Understanding the difference between Secure and Lockdown helps families know what to expect if either response is implemented at their child's school.

A Secure is a precautionary measure used when there is a potential threat outside the school building, such as police activity in the surrounding neighborhood. During a Secure, the school secures the perimeter while instruction and other activities inside the building may continue.
A Lockdown is used when there is a threat inside the school building, such as an active attacker. During a Lockdown, students and staff immediately move to secure locations, lock doors, turn off lights, and remain out of sight until law enforcement determines it is safe. During both a Secure and a Lockdown, no one will be permitted to enter or leave the building until the all-clear has been given.
Standard Response Protocol, Secure means "Secure the Perimeter," while Lockdown means "Locks, Lights, Out of Sight."

SUPPORTING STUDENT HEALTH

Caring for Students’ Health and Well-Being

At Spring ISD, we believe student success begins with student well-being. That is why we are committed to caring for the whole child by supporting each student’s physical, social, and emotional health.

All Spring ISD schools have a nurse or trained staff member to handle emergencies, administer medication, and support families with required and recommended vaccines, including flu and COVID-19. We’ll keep families informed about vaccination opportunities throughout the year.

We all play a role in keeping our schools healthy. If your student is feeling sick, please keep them at home and follow the district’s health guidelines “I Need to Stay Home If…” before sending them back to school.

Individualized Health Care Plans

If your child has a medical condition that may require special care at school, an Individualized Healthcare Plan (IHP) may be needed. These plans are created by the school, parents, healthcare professionals, and the student to outline the necessary support.

Not every student requires an Individualized Health Plan (IHP). The need for an IHP depends on how a health condition affects the student’s school day and the support they need. If necessary, your school nurse can provide the required form for your child’s healthcare provider to complete and sign. Copies of common IHPs can be found at: https://www.springisd.org/documents/directory/health-services/forms/647895

Medication Administration

At every Spring ISD campus, nurses and other trained staff are available to administer medications. To help ensure medications are given safely and accurately:

Medication authorization forms must be fully completed, signed by both the parent/guardian and healthcare provider, and must clearly match the medication brought to campus. You can find the Medication Authorization Form here.
All medications must be brought to school by the parent/guardian. Elementary and Middle school students may not transport medication to campus.

If the required documentation is incomplete, unclear, or does not match the medication provided, school staff cannot administer the medication to help prevent medication errors. In these situations, the parent/guardian is responsible for making alternate arrangements until the correct documentation has been submitted and verified.

Before medication can be administered at school, it must:

Sent in the original container/packaging with a prescription label. Over-the-counter medicine must be unopened/unused.
Needed at least three times per day, unless specified by the doctor.
Current and not expired.
Consents from a parent/guardian AND the student’s doctor are required for ANY medication that the student can carry or self-administer. This includes prescription, emergency (EpiPens, Rescue Inhalers, Diastat, etc.), and over-the-counter medications.

**EPI-PENS and RESPIRATORY RESCUE INHALERS, or OTHER EMERGENCY MEDICATIONS** If a student requires any rescue medication to be administered, an Individualized Healthcare Plan (IHP) must be completed.

Statistics show that when parents are engaged in their children’s education, their children are more successful in school. Here’s how you can become involved:

Attend parent meetings, open house and parent-teacher conferences

These events are a great way to meet and build relationships with your child’s teachers and counselors. This is also a great opportunity to learn more about the school, including campus-wide programs and policies.

Volunteer at your child’s school

Many parents are active in their child’s elementary school, but as their kids get older, some parents become less involved. Parents who continue to volunteer and be part of the middle school and high school communities are more likely to be aware and engaged in their child’s school life.

Schools welcome parents to volunteer and provide the following opportunities:

Car rider duty
Serve as a student reading partner
Hall duty
Cafeteria duty
Mentor a student
Tutor students
Chaperone school trips
Sign up to speak during career day or college night

Every family plays an important role in creating a strong school community.

To learn more about ways to get involved, visit the Spring ISD Family and Community Engagement page for additional resources and opportunities at https://www.springisd.org/page/family-and-community-engagement

Healthy Meals for Healthy Minds

Good nutrition helps students learn, grow, and succeed. That’s why, for the 2026-2027 school year, Spring ISD continues to offer free breakfast and lunch to ALL students at every school, along with a free snack or supper to students in after-school programs at many of our campuses. In addition, each campus will offer à la carte items for purchase at meal times. These items may be purchased with cash or the student's meal account.

Students who pack a lunch from home can use our “Pick 3” option, which allows them to come through the cafeteria line and grab three items for free: a piece of fruit, a vegetable, and milk. With Pick 3, students can add healthy, ready-to-eat sides to lunches brought from home, making it easier for families to pack nutritious meals.

Our trained chef works closely with the team’s dietitians to create kid-friendly and kid-tested menu items that are both nutritious and student-approved. This year, your child can look forward to exciting new menu items such as Caribbean Jerk Chicken Pasta, Spinach Alfredo Pizza, Beef Bulgogi Bowl, and many more delicious dishes. We can't wait for them to discover what's cooking in our cafeterias!

Menus are available at www.schoolcafe.com/SpringISD, which offers complete nutritional information and an easy way to add money to your child’s meal account and manage the account balance. Sign up using your child’s student identification number.

GREAT ATTENDANCE, BRIGHT FUTURES!

Every school day is an opportunity to learn, grow and connect. Help your child stay on track by making attendance a priority, aiming for 100% attendance whenever possible.

Expect to hear from their campus if your child misses a class or is absent an entire day. Should an absence be necessary, let your campus know so they can help determine whether it may be excused.

Research shows that:

Attendance matters right from the start. Studies show that children who miss too many days in kindergarten and first grade have trouble learning to read.
A child with excessive absences as early as sixth grade is at an increased risk of dropping out.
By ninth grade, good attendance can predict graduation rates even better than eighth-grade test scores.

To learn more about why attendance matters and the Spring ISD attendance policy, visit the Attendance Center online.

Spring ISD is committed to providing a safe and supportive environment where bullying is not tolerated. If you need to report a bullying-related incident, there are several ways to do so, including online reporting at www.springisd.org/stopbullying

You can also report directly from a button designed like a stop sign located on campus websites and the district homepage. A special form guides users through a series of questions to gather important information about the alleged bullying incident—including whether it was in-person or cyberbullying. Those who report using the tool may decide to stay anonymous or use their names. In either case, district officials will investigate the claims to stop any bullying.

Spring ISD has a rich history of excellence and high achievement in the Performing and Visual Arts. Our programs support student learning by providing opportunities for students to develop academically and socially through authentic engagement with a rigorous curriculum.

That commitment was recently recognized when Spring ISD earned Outstanding District status in the Texas Educational Theatre Association's (TxETA) 2026 Award of Distinction Program, a prestigious honor that recognizes school districts demonstrating an exceptional commitment to theatre education and student participation.

And because we know the path to college can be complex, Spring ISD is committed to making that journey more accessible for every student. That’s why Spring ISD offers free, universal PSAT/SAT testing to all students in grades 8-11. By providing testing free to all students during the school day, Spring ISD is helping expand opportunity.

In addition, students who do well on AP exams can earn college credit, while Dual Credit classes – currently offered tuition-free through Lone Star College—allow students to engage in college-level coursework while earning high school and college credit. Some Spring ISD students are even able to graduate with both their high school diploma and an associate degree from Lone Star College.
