WBHS Update
10/19/2026
Principal's Update
Hello Laker Nation,
We hope this message finds you well! As we approach the Fall 2026 PSAT/NMSQT testing day, we wanted to share important information to help the day go smoothly for all of our 11th-grade students.
PSAT/NMSQT Test Day Details:
Date: Thursday, October 22, 2026
Locations:
WBHS Gym (Last names A-J)
WBHS Aux Gym (Last names K-Z)
Arrival Time: 7:30 a.m.
Test Start Time: 8:00 a.m.
After the test concludes, students will be dismissed to return to class for the remainder of the school day. This will be a full day of school.
Special Accommodations:
Students with testing accommodations have received separate instructions. Our SSD Coordinator, April Sanders, sent individual emails with specific details.
What to Bring on Test Day:
Required Items:
School-issued Chromebook (fully charged)
Chromebook charger
School photo ID or driver’s license
Technology will be on-site with loaner devices if a student needs to borrow a device for testing.
Optional Items:
Approved calculator (a list of acceptable calculators is provided by the College Board)
An embedded graphing calculator will also be available in the Bluebook system.
Pencil or pen
Water bottle
A small snack
Please note: All cell phones will be powered off and stored in a designated area during the test.
What NOT to Bring into testing environment:
Smartwatches
Earbuds or headphones
Large bags or backpacks
All bags, purses, and other personal items will be placed in a designated area of the testing room, away from desks and testing spaces. To minimize distractions, we encourage students to avoid bringing unnecessary items.
Final Reminders:
It is important that students attend school on test day. We recommend that students get a good night’s rest, eat breakfast, and arrive on time to reduce stress and ensure a smooth testing experience.
Thank you for your support in making this testing day a success. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out.
Warm regards,
The WBHS Testing Team
(Dr. Clark, Mrs. Laing, & Mrs. Sanders)
AFTER SCHOOL PROCEDURES AND EXPECTATIONS
- School dismisses at 2:38 PM
- A warning bell sounds at 2:55 PM
- ALL STUDENTS must be in their sport, club, activity, etc. by 3:00 PM when the final bell rings
- NO STUDENTS can remain in the building after 3:00 PM unless they are at their specific activity with the adult supervisor.
- We do not have staff to supervise students who are just here in the building with no activity.
- Now that the weather is getting colder, it is important to either be involved in an after school activity or to have plans to leave by 3:00. Students WILL BE waiting outside, because it is unsafe to have them in the school without supervision.
- We do have a supervisor for in-season activities if the practices, meetings, or rehearsals start after 3:00 PM. These students will be in the cafeteria where a security staff member will supervise. These will only be for in-season activities and the students must be on the approved roster from athletics or performing arts if applicable. This is NOT for students just to wait for rides.
- Thank you for your help in keeping our students and school safe
Parking and Traffic
- Please do not utilize the church across the street for arrival and dismissal. They are an active congregation and we do not want to create any conflicts with their staff or parishioners.
- When turning left into and out of WBHS, DO NOT USE THE SOUTH ENTRANCE. This entrance does not have a traffic light and it is illegal and dangerous to turn left in or out of this location. Please use the traffic light for all left turns.
- When turning left into the school at the traffic light, DO NOT BLOCK TRAFFIC ON ORCHARD LAKE RD. When the light turns, please do not force yourself into the intersection. It is blocking northbound Orchard Lake traffic.
TRANSPORTATION UPDATE
- Yes, transportation and traffic can be a challenge at a school with 1,400 students. Parent drivers, student drivers, buses, and having only one traffic light entrance can cause delays.
- Bus routes began arriving earlier this week. This seemed to help get our buses out before the majority of drivers arrived.
- Please use ONLY THE MAIN LOT for driving traffic. Due to construction, the need for handicap accessibility, and making sure our buses run on time, this is the only way to separate traffic and keep people moving
- If your child is not ready to get in the vehicle in the afternoon, please use a parking spot. Parking in the aisles blocks hundreds of other cars
- Please evenly distribute down each aisle in order to provide the best efficiency
- Please respect our staff. We have a few hard working individuals who put themselves in the middle of hundreds of vehicles to keep everyone safe and timely. Follow their directions and treat them with kindness. We are all doing our best to serve WBHS
Proud to be a Laker,
Eric Pace

Parking Passes REQUIRED
West Bloomfield High School will continue to offer parking privileges to eligible 11th and 12th-grade students that purchase and properly display a WBHS parking permit. Criteria for obtaining and maintaining a parking permit can be found on the link below. Students may only park in the main and south lots, NOT in the north lot (by the stadium), which is reserved for staff parking. Parking Passes are REQUIRED for all students. This is how we keep track of who is in our lot, and how we identify vehicles if there are any issues.
Seniors and juniors can purchase their parking pass at Jump Start, provided they bring the permit fee- $100 payment (cash or check payable to West Bloomfield Schools), and evidence of a driver's license and vehicle registration. Parking permits are to be fully adhered to the bottom left-hand side of the windshield of the vehicle for which it was purchased. If a family would like to register additional vehicles, they need to complete the application and provide a $5.00 payment for each.

Attendance Matters
The biggest indicator of student success is regular attendance. Please see the graphic above for important attendance reminders. Traffic occurs, and arriving late or leaving early regularly due to traffic are not acceptable reasons to miss school. Learning takes place at WBHS from the first minute of school at 7:45 through the end of the school day, and students arriving late or leaving early miss that instruction and also disrupt the learning of the rest of the class.

CHROMEBOOK UPDATES - ALL STUDENTS
ATTENTION ALL STUDENTS
ALL STUDENTS must turn in their old Chromebooks and pick up a new device. Old Chromebooks will be disabled and students will be financially responsible for a replacement cost if the old device is not turned in. If your student does not yet have a NEW Chromebook, they must stop by the iCenter to obtain one as soon as possible once school begins.
ALL STUDENTS MUST USE THE NEW DISTRICT-PROVIDED CHROMEBOOKS AS THEIR ONLY TECHNOLOGY DEVICE IN SCHOOL - Students will be expected to bring their Chromebooks to and from school daily for classroom use. NO OTHER devices will be permitted.
***9th grade students should have already turned their devices in at the end of 8th grade***
***New students will not need to turn in an old device***
IMPORTANT - NEW PERSONAL TECH DEVICE POLICY
Student Chromebooks Required
In compliance with State Law, all personal tech devices are prohibited during instructional time. This includes, but is not limited to phones, personal laptops, tablets, smart watches, iPads, Kindles, AirPods, earbuds/headphones, interactive glasses, or any other devices that allows communication and/or Internet access. This will be enforced diligently in order to maximize student learning and to comply with State law.
Digital Devices and Gaggle
At West Bloomfield High School, the safety and well-being of our students extends beyond the classroom and into their digital learning environment. West Bloomfield School District uses an online monitoring system called Gaggle to help identify potential safety concerns when students are using their wbsd.org accounts.
District-issued Chromebooks and student accounts are provided to support learning and are intended for school-related assignments and activities. If Gaggle identifies content that may indicate a student's safety or well-being is at risk, school administrators receive an alert and will review the information. When appropriate, parents or guardians will be contacted so we can partner together in supporting the student.
While technology provides incredible opportunities for learning, it also reinforces the importance of ongoing conversations at home. We encourage families to regularly talk with their students about:
- Using apps, social media, and group chats responsibly.
- Treating others with kindness and respect in all digital interactions.
- Thinking carefully before posting, sharing, or sending messages.
- Speaking with a trusted adult if they encounter concerning or inappropriate online content.
Thank you for partnering with us to help our students develop safe, responsible, and respectful digital habits. By working together, we can create a positive online environment that supports both learning and student well-being.

Student Athletes of the Month - September
Congratulations to Jaxson Carver and Delaney Brager for earning Student-Athlete of the Month for September! This new program aims to celebrate the tremendous student-athletes that we have here in WB. Each month, coaches have the opportunity to nominate up to 1 male and/or 1 female to be selected. The WBHS Administration Team is given the nominations and selects that given month's recipients through a voting process. Selection criteria includes: Leadership, Academics (3.0 GPA or higher), Athletic Excellence, Character, etc. Winners receive a Laker Anchor trophy and certificate, and their names and pictures are posted in a special board for a month.
September Student-Athletes of the Month: Jaxson Carver (nominated by Coach Hilbers)- "Unquestioned leader of the football program. Carries above a 3.0 GPA. High character and work ethic. Has already passed for over 1,300 yards and accounted for 13 TD"
Delaney Brager (nominated by Coach Reed & Coach Hamlin)- "Delaney Brager embodies what it means to be a Laker student-athlete. She is a hardworking, driven leader who genuinely cares about her teammates and takes the time to listen to their needs. Academically, she challenges herself with a full schedule of advanced coursework and multiple AP classes while remaining highly involved in several school clubs and leadership roles. Beyond her accomplishments, Delaney is kind, welcoming, and friendly to everyone she meets. At every golf match, she seems to make a new friend. We are incredibly lucky to have Delaney on our team and to have her help lead our girls golf program. She leads by example and consistently demonstrates how to be a successful student, athlete, leader, and, most importantly, a great person."
Join me in congratulating Jaxson and Delaney for being the recipients of our first STUDENT-ATHLETES OF THE MONTH AWARD!
Go Lakers!
