Principal Message Principal Message

One of the things I love about this time of the year are the morning sunrises at Doe Run. Some mornings we are blessed with a beautiful view of the sun rising through the tree line to the east and slowly creeping up to silhouette the Kreider’s tower. This morning was cloudy and no sunrise could be seen. Ugh! I initially wished the clouds away as they were taking away what is normally a real treat in the morning. However, then I started thinking, although the clouds blocked the sun today, it is the clouds that typically make for such a powerful sight as the sun’s rays bounce from various edges of the thousands of clouds to provide a canvas bursting with color. For me, the clouds represent the challenges, unexpected changes, and difficult days that we experience in education and life. We may wish those clouds away because they sometimes make our work harder or prevent us from seeing the progress we hope to see. Like the clouds in a sunrise, however, it is often the challenges that create the conditions for our most meaningful moments of growth.

I hope you have a month filled with amazing sunrises, clouds and all,

Lost and Found Lost and Found

It's only November and our Lost and Found is already overflowing! When you come in for Conferences or a Baron Breakfast, please take a moment and look over the items to see if anything belongs to your kids. To help us keep our Lost and Found at a minimum, please label coats and lunchboxes with last names. This enables us to return items to students when they are left behind or left on the bus. Many children have the same (or similar looking) jackets and take the wrong one by mistake. If names are in the coats we can switch them back. Also - periodically check the name in the jackets to be sure you have the correct one.

2026-2027 Yearbooks 2026-2027 Yearbooks

Hello Doe Run Families!

Each year seems to fly by so quickly; it’s nice to have a keepsake to remember all the fun we had throughout the year. The Doe Run Yearbook is ready to accept orders for the 2026-2027 school year! The price of this year’s yearbook is currently $20 but will increase to $25 on November 21, so order now to lock in the lowest price!

If you wish to purchase a yearbook, please click on the following link and search for “Doe Run Elementary School": Jostens Yearbook Order Link. You will then be prompted to complete information regarding your child/teacher. The Jostens website defaults to select add-ons such as personalizing the cover and adding autograph pages. If you do not want these add-ons, you will need to deselect those as you proceed through your order. As a reminder, all learners who would like a yearbook will need to purchase one. If this is a financial hardship for your family, Jostens does offer payment plan options! Please let us know if you have any questions.

Thank you,

Ms. Pells & Ms. Carter, Doe Run Yearbook Co-Advisors

Late Drop-Off Late Drop-Off

If you are dropping your child off late, please park and walk them into the school so you can sign them in. We have a paper in the lobby for you to sign and then they may come in to get their late pass.

Our doors open at 7:15 and close at 7:44. Classes start at 7:45 so if you are dropping off after that time, they will need to be walked in.

If your child needs to eat breakfast and is a car rider - they should be dropped off before 7:30 so they have time to eat and get to class by 7:45.

After School Dismissal Notes After School Dismissal Notes

The office receives many bus notes each day. In order for us to inform the correct buses of the changes, please include the following:

All notes should include:

  • Student's first AND last name (we have many learners with the same first name)
  • Legible parent name and teacher
  • Bus number if you know it

This helps us get the correct student on the correct bus.

If a child is going home with another student, BOTH parents must send a note giving permission.

  • Vision referral letters are sent home with learners who do not pass their vision screenings. If you are in need of financial assistance or help scheduling a vision appointment, please contact Nurse Stewart.

  • For our younger learners, please keep a change of clothing in their backpack in case of a bathroom or playground accident.

  • Donations of gently used, elastic waisted pants and shorts of all sizes are greatly appreciated!

  • If your learner is sick with a fever, vomiting, or diarrhea, they should stay home from school. Students should not return to school until they have been fever free, for 24 hours without fever reducing medication.
