Swansboro High School
Weekly Updates - December 14, 2025
Happy Sunday Pirates,
It was an exciting week at Swansboro High School that included active learning, field trips, our winter band concert, teacher recognition, and student celebrations. The School of Infantry adopted our school community on Friday night at our home basketball games and we look forward to their partnership and support for our students, staff, and families.
Congratulations to Mrs. Griffin and Mrs. Raso on receiving Jones Onslow Bright Ideas grants. They were honored at the annual banquet on Thursday evening. Additionally, Mrs. Griffin received a STEM grant from the University of North Carolina. We commend our teachers for their dedication and continual efforts to secure valuable resources that provide our students with excellent learning opportunities.
In athletics, our ladies wrestling team continues to dominate the competition. The team defeated Dixon and Onslow Early College on Wednesday and went on to win the Beast of the East championships on Friday night. JV boys wrestling also took first place at the Friday competition. Varsity men competed at the Beast of the East with Levi Vetter and Sheamus Mercer placing third and Darian Shelly placing fourth and James Smith placing fifth. Ladies’ basketball defeated White Oak. Catching up from last week, congratulations to our men’s swim team for placing second and our ladies for placing third last weekend. First place finishers included Trevor Hucal, Owen Priechenfried, Maddie Yates, and Layla Holland. Daniel Prane took second place.
This week in athletics will include basketball at Northside on Tuesday. Track will travel to West Carteret on Wednesday. Basketball will host Richlands while swimming competes at Aqua Ventures on Friday. Athletic contests over the Christmas holiday will include men’s basketball participating in the Onslow County Tournament at Northside December 27-30, 2025, and men’s wrestling at Havelock’s competition on December 30 and 31, 2025.
Herff Jones will be on campus on Monday during all lunches to answer any questions that juniors or seniors have about ordering class rings and graduation items. This week will also include our winter chorus concert on Monday and our winter orchestra concert on Tuesday. This week is our S2S winter spirit week, and we look forward to seeing our students and staff dress up daily. Friday is our annual senior breakfast, sponsored by our Project Graduation volunteers.
As a reminder, students will participate in final exams the week of January 12, 2026. Students can now see their exam schedules in FlexTime. We will take a break from our Sunday newsletters and calls for two weeks, and you can expect them to resume on Sunday, January 4, 2026.
