Principal's Message to Families
Greetings Warrior Nation,
As we enter the final week of the school year, I want to take a moment to thank you for your continued partnership, support, and commitment throughout this school year. It has been a year filled with growth, learning, and memorable moments for our young kings, and we are grateful for the trust you place in us each day.
Over the last few weeks, summer school and retention warning letters have been emailed to parents. A failing grade is a grade below a 60. Final summer school or retention letters will be emailed during the week of 6/1.
Please review the important reminders for the last week of school below:
1. Students will have the opportunity to clean out their lockers.
• Please remind your warrior to bring home all personal belongings and ensure they have all uniform items before the end of the year.
• Students will be assigned new lockers for next school year.
• Any uniforms left behind will be cleaned and recycled for students to borrow next school year.
2. Students will dismiss at 1:00 PM each day during the final week of school.
• Final exams will be administered throughout the week, so we encourage students to arrive on time, prepared, and ready to finish the year strong.
Thank you again for your partnership and support this school year. We are proud of all our students have accomplished and remain committed to helping every warrior succeed. We wish all of our families a safe, restful, and enjoyable summer break.

Early Dismissals- We understand that early dismissals are necessary at times. Here are some things to keep in mind when seeking an early dismissal:
- Some parts of our day are busier than others, for this reason, we ask that all early dismissals happen before 2pm.
- I cannot accept requests over the telephone.
- Students are not allowed to dismiss themselves, even if they are 18 years old.
- Students are also not permitted to leave class to request a dismissal from me.
- To request an early dismissal for your student, please complete this new form we will be using this school year.
Excusing an Absence- This year, there is a new way to excuse your child's absences. The link to the new form can be found below. Please review the following information:
- When your child is absent, an absent note is required to excuse the absence.
- You are able to excuse the absence for up to 2 consecutive days with the parent excuse note.
- If your child is absent for a 3rd consecutive day, a note from a medical professional is required.

Transportation
Only students that live 1.5 miles or more from the school qualify for transportation and will receive a Septa Fare Card. The fare card is of no cost to families. The School District of Philadelphia determines whether your child is eligible for transportation. If your child is found to be eligible for transportation they will receive (1) YELLOW fare care. Although issues are isolated, please be advised that you may have to provide transportation for your child for up to the first 2 weeks of school if there is an issue with your transportation status. The school district does not furnish us with day passes, vouchers or any other fare items. More information regarding the Septa Student Fare Card can be found here.
- If you live outside of Philadelphia, the school district where you reside is responsible for providing transportation for your student. Please visit that school district in-person and apply to their school for "transportation only". Your child is still a student at Boys' Latin, but we do not provide their transportation(this includes lost, stolen or damaged Septa passes).
- If your child was a student at Boys' Latin High School last year and was issued a Septa Student Fare Card, your child will continue to use that same card this year as long as your address qualifies for transportation. It will be activated by the School District of Philadelphia at the beginning of the school year. If that card is lost, stolen or damaged, please email me and I will issue your student a new card.
- If your child has never received a fare card from Boys' Latin or was a student at Boys' Latin Middle School, your child will be issued a new card as long as your address qualifies for transportation.
Contact Information- Please make sure that all of your contact information is up-to-date. We use the contact information that you provide to issue early dismissals, emergencies and communication, etc..
