Welcome Back! Welcome Back!

Important Info for the New School Year! Important Info for the New School Year!

Dear Rockburn Families,

Welcome to the 2026-2027 school year!

What a great start! The students came in and got right back into their Rockburn routine! It was great to see so many smiling faces. Happy to see their teachers and friends!

As a reminder to our bus riders, this week, we ask that you get to the bus stop 10 minutes early in the morning and afternoon. As the bus drivers learn their routes, they can be a little early or a little later. We will communicate with you if there is a bus running very late, but expect this week to be a little different each day. Thank you for your patience during the first weeks.

Please see below for our brochure containing our arrival and dismissal process.

Welcome to a new school year and get ready to ROCK it!

Lunch Visits No Longer Permitted Lunch Visits No Longer Permitted

Parent lunch visits are no longer permitted at any HCPSS school. Limiting access during the school day ensures safe and secure school communities by removing unnecessary access to students and school buildings, reducing disruptions, supporting student routines, and minimizing non-essential traffic in student areas. Parents are encouraged to communicate with school staff to stay engaged in their child's learning and seek opportunities to volunteer in an official capacity at the school.

Learning Together Program Applications

The Rockburn Early Childhood Classes are making preparations for the upcoming 2026-20207. Beginning in mid February applications for general education students to participate as peers through the Learning Together Program (LTP) will become available. These classes include general education and special education students. The program’s focus is helping all children develop communication, literacy, math, problem solving, motor, and social skills. Parents of children who will be 3 by September 1st, may apply.

For more information and to apply for LTP visit: HCPSS Learning Together Program

In alignment with Maryland’s Blueprint for the Future, new applications for students turning 4 by September 1 are not available. The Howard County Public School System continues to offer Prekindergarten for income eligible children who will be 4 years old by September 1. For additional information contact the school or visit: https://www.hcpss.org/schools/pre-k-programs/

First PTA Meeting

Please mark your calendars for our first PTA Meeting on Wednesday, September 2nd at 7 pm in the Rockburn Media Center. We will be voting on the 2026-2027 budget so we need quorum. Everyone is welcome and encouraged to attend!

Rock into a New Year by joining the Rockburn PTA!

The 2026-2027 PTA Membership Drive has begun. Your PTA contribution and membership helps fund many programs throughout the year such as Cultural Arts assemblies, Family Involvement events, Back to School Celebration, Fall Festival, Holiday Shop, Bingo Night, Movie Night, Sports Park NIght, 5th grade signature shirts, school gifts, staff appreciation, and enhancements to our recess and PE programs. All parents are encouraged to join the PTA.

You can pay your annual membership dues and order classwear t-shirts online via our MemberHub store (https://rockburnpta.givebacks.com/shop). You can also make a direct donation to the PTA there.

Choose “Bundle Membership” when purchasing your Rockburn PTA membership to get the best deal. This includes a PTA membership, no entrance fee to PTA events (October Fall Festival, February Bingo Night, and May Rockburn Sports Park Night) and ONE FREE CLASS WEAR T-SHIRT!

Additional classwear is $14 each. T-shirt colors are based on the grade. Your child will wear their class t-shirt at events like the Rocky Run, Field trips, Walk to School Day, etc.

All memberships include the traditional benefits of National PTA’s partners (see pta.org) and help to enrich our students, families and staff. Good through June 2027.

You can also download the membership form and mail it to the school (Attn: PTA Treasurer). The school address is 6145 Montgomery Rd, Elkridge, MD 21075. You can also send it in with your child and have them give it to their teacher.
