Principal's Message
Dear Allenwood Elementary School Families,
Thank you for your continued support of our PTG’s Read-A-Thon. Your generosity helps fund many of the wonderful opportunities our students enjoy throughout the year, including field trips, assemblies, Mayfair, and more. Our young Dragons truly enjoyed participating in the fundraiser and were excited to earn prizes along the way. We are grateful for your partnership and support.
This month, students will begin mid-year i-Ready and DIBELS assessments. These assessments provide valuable information that helps our teachers guide instruction and support student growth in the classroom. Please encourage your children to try their best and remind them that these assessments are simply one way we measure learning progress.
Our fifth-grade students will participate in the Heroes and Cool Kids program, presented by juniors and seniors from our high school. During this program, students will engage in conversations about peer pressure, learn strategies to overcome challenges, and hear about the many positive experiences to look forward to in high school.
Regarding Valentine’s Day, while we added classroom parties last year through our PTG, we will be moving away from that celebration this school year. Instead, students may bring in individual Valentine’s cards for their classmates. If your child chooses to participate, please ensure that there is a card for every student in the class. Cards may include a small item such as a pencil; however, please do not send candy for students to distribute.
Please note the following important upcoming dates:
February 9 – Report cards available to parents
February 13 – Fourth Grade Presidents’ Parade
Thank you for your ongoing support of Allenwood Elementary School. We appreciate the strong partnership we share with our families and community.
Sincerely,
James Sterenczak
Principal
