Message from Principal Tesch
Quarter 2 is underway! Thank you for all of your work and support as we begin the second half of the first semester of 2025-2026. Ensuring your student is in school every day and on time is perhaps the most fundamental step you can take to support their academic success. Our school day begins at 7:45AM, and students must be seated in their 1st-hour classes no later than 7:50AM. Chronic absenteeism, even if only one or two days a month, can significantly disrupt learning, making it difficult for students to keep up with coursework. Likewise, consistent tardiness means missed instructions and a disruptive start to the class for everyone involved. Developing strong habits of punctuality and reliable attendance not only correlates directly with higher grades but also instills crucial life skills, responsibility, respect for schedules, and professionalism, that are essential for college and future careers. Thank you for your partnership in prioritizing your student's daily presence and timely arrival.
When Students Are In School & On Time Every Day...
๐งฉ They stay connected to classroom discussions and peer relationships: Peer relationships are critically important for high school students, providing essential social and emotional support that influences their mental well-being, identity development, and academic performance.
๐ฃ๏ธ Learning builds naturally from one day to the next: Students who arrive late miss crucial introductory material and instructions given at the start of class, which can lead to confusion later in the lesson.
๐ They stay on track: Missing just 10% of school days (about two days a month) is considered chronic absenteeism and significantly lowers the probability of graduation.
๐They contribute to our strong classroom community: A strong sense of belonging makes students feel safe, respected, and included, which leads to increased participation, better collaboration, and improved academic results.
๐คThey maintain the positive habits we've established together: Consistent attendance teaches responsibility, time management, and reliabilityโtraits valued by colleges and future employers.
