Principal's Corner
Dear Hirsch Hawk Parents and Guardians,
We have officially reached the last week of the grading period! As a reminder, next week (March 10-14) is Spring Break, and we hope all of our students and families enjoy a well-deserved rest. When we return, we will be in the final stretch of the school year—every moment of learning counts!
Our goal is to ensure that every student finishes the year on target and ready for the next grade level. One of the most critical skills for academic success is reading on grade level. Research shows that students who read proficiently by the end of third grade are more likely to excel in all subjects.
Reading impacts writing, comprehension, problem-solving, and even math success!
We need your partnership to help students finish strong! Here are a few ways you can support your child at home:
📖 Read every day – Encourage at least 20 minutes of reading each night. This can be independent reading, reading together, or even listening to an audiobook.
🔍 Ask questions – When your child reads, ask them to retell the story, describe the characters, and explain new words to build comprehension.
📝 Make it fun – Create a reading routine, visit the library, or let your child pick books on topics they love.
🎯 Use real-world reading – Have them read recipes, menus, road signs, and grocery lists to practice reading in everyday life.
As we approach the last months of school, let’s work together to ensure that every Hirsch Hawk SOARS into the next grade level ready for success. Thank you for being an essential part of your child’s learning journey. Enjoy your Spring Break, and we’ll see you back on March 18!

Attendance Matters!
