South Elementary
Hello South Elementary Families!
We’ve had such a wonderful start to the school year, and we’re excited for all that lies ahead! The students came in with big smiles and lots of energy, and it’s been great to see them settling into routines and enjoying their first few days. Of course, a full day of learning can be tiring, but they’re doing an amazing job adjusting. We’re looking forward to another fantastic year together!

Sweet Grace and Co.
I would like to take a moment to thank Sweet Grace and Co. for their very generous offer to supply all the ice cream for our ice cream social last week. Despite the rain, we had an incredible turnout!!
Thank you also to all the parents who braved the rain and our incredibly long line in order to give the kids a chance to come to the school and connect with their peers.
Lastly, thank you to the PTA for organizing the event!!
PickUp Patrol
Please note that PickUp Patrol is a MUST HAVE app!! The use of PickUp Patrol is required and Notes, emails, or phone calls will not be accepted, except in emergencies. PickUp Patrol provides you with a convenient way to let us know of your child's absence and to make changes to your child’s dismissal plans. This platform also helps ensure that our students are accurately and safely dismissed to the correct after school location each day.
If you have not already downloaded PickUp Patrol and set up your default plan, please read on!!
Use the PUP web app for:
ATTENDANCE: Notify the school office when your child will be absent, arriving late or leaving early.
DISMISSAL CHANGES: Submit changes to your child’s regular dismissal plans. For example:
A student normally rides the bus, but is getting picked up today.
A student usually goes to aftercare, but is leaving early for an appointment.
How it works:
Your child is assigned a dismissal plan at the start of the year. This is the plan they will regularly follow on normal days. We call this the Default Plan. You must go into Pick Up Patrol and confirm that your child's default plan is correct.
Whenever you have a change to the Default Plan, you’ll submit a change through the PUP app. When the plan is submitted, the school will be notified and your child’s teacher will relay the change to them.
All plan changes must be entered in PickUp Patrol. Emergencies will always be an exception.
Getting started with PUP:
REGISTER: You will receive a registration email from PickUp Patrol in the coming days with a link to set up your account. If you registered for an account last year you should not have to register again. The PUP web app is free to parents and you can use it from your smartphone or computer. PUP is not accessed through the app stores. Instead, for easy access, follow the instructions in your registration email for how to add it to your phone’s home screen or CLICK HERE
DEFAULT PLANS: Once you register, log into your PickUp Patrol account and confirm your child’s default dismissal plan. These were entered by office staff but should be checked carefully for any errors. It’s important that you complete this step so that we can accurately dismiss your children.
Thank you for using PUP to make safety a priority and to ensure our dismissal process is efficient for all our students.
If you have any questions, please first check the PUP FAQ page. If you still need help, contact our main office or PickUp Patrol at support@pickuppatrol.net.
School Council
School Council is a great way to get involved in the school. School Council is an equal group of teachers and community members that work directly with administration to develop the school improvement plan. We had an amazing group of teachers and parents that helped establish our new 3 year School Improvement Plan. This year we will be monitoring the progress of that plan and making adjustments as needed. If this sounds like something you are interested in please email me directly at dthompson@plymouth.k12.ma.us
