Academy Announcements
Dear Academy families and friends,
October is here! We have successfully completed our Fall data collection and will be working over the next two weeks on data analysis and getting our support/intervention groups up and running. This year, Academy is classified as a Title 1 school and as a result, we will have ELA and Math intervention opportunities for selected students in the building. The school year is really starting to unfold nicely!
In the month ahead, please be sure to look at the list of important dates especially as field trips, holidays, and PDs will impact the monthly schedule. We also had to postpone the 4th grade field trip to the Planetarium, but hopefully we'll be able to do it this year.
The "Walking School Buses" will be traversing the neighborhoods before school on October 4th. We have several staff members and parents looking to help bring back this Academy tradition. Parents can park and get "on the walking bus" at Essex Street, Legion Field, or the Mason Hall off of Broad St. Buses. Routes will be coming out as well as "stops" to join the walk.
Last but not least, please remember that walker students, especially those in the younger grades, should be accompanied by an adult to their designated entry door and monitored until school staff is on duty at 8:50AM.
Thanks for all of the support!
Mr. Higgins
Updates
Parent Representative Needed for the School Council
The School Council is the school-based committee that focuses on school improvement planning. We are currently seeking one more parent representative to help this group. The commitment is light as we usually meet four to five times a year to discuss the needs of the students and the school at large. Please email me if you can serve on the committee. Click here for more information about school councils.
Attendance Matters
Daily attendance is critical to the learning process. Students should be in school each & every day to grow to their full potential. We understand that students get sick and ask parents to Please remember to call the attendance hotline (781.335.4717 before 8:30) to report an absence. Please be sure to submit any doctor's notes following an absence as well.
