Mustang News: August 28, 2026
From the Principal's Desk
Gunnison Middle School Families,
Welcome back to another school year! Our first week was filled with energy as students settled into their routines and reconnected with peers. From classroom introductions to fall athletics starting up, our community is already moving forward and growing.
A highlight of our week was the 8th Grade Taylor Challenge. Our 8th graders completed a memorable three day excursion in the mountains, that included team building, outdoor activities, and setting the tone for their final year. Stepping into a long trip away from home during the first week takes courage, and our students handled the experience with maturity.
I want to extend a sincere thank you to all of our 8th grade advisors and Taylor Challenge chaperones who supported this journey. Leaving home to assist students during week one requires dedication. I know our students appreciate the care they provide away from the classroom.
Thank you to our families for helping make this opening week a success. We look forward to a fantastic year ahead!
As always, if you have any questions or concerns please reach out to Mrs. Lindsay at 641-7710 in the front office to schedule a meeting with me.
Take care,
Lance Betts
