Message From the Principal
Dear Wildwood Families,
We are three days into the school year and I can’t tell you how much joy those three days have filled me with. Students are the reason I do this work and, as I start to get to know each of them, my commitment to helping each of them grow, learn, and excel is renewed. Thank you for all you are doing to support your children and their transition back to school.
I want to welcome our families who are new to Wildwood. I hope you will join us tomorrow night, Thursday, August 14th at 6:00 PM for our New Family Orientation in the Wildwood Library. It’s an opportunity for you to learn more about Wildwood and all our school community has to offer. It also gives you a chance to connect with other families. This is an adult only event.
This week, teachers are spending time teaching all students The Wildwood Way. We strive to not just learn the Wildwood Way, but to live it on campus each day. When you have time this week, talk to your children about it and what it means to be respectful, be responsible, be inclusive, and to be problem solvers. Working together on this helps reinforce how important these values are not just at Wildwood, but in the larger community and world.
And, finally, just a few reminders:
Please send your child to school each day with a water bottle, snack, and either a lunch from home or a pre-order from LunchMasters.
When students arrive on campus each morning, we ask that they grab breakfast (if they want it) and go to their designated spot to line up with their class. Students are not to play on the playground when they arrive. This routine helps us with yard supervision and makes for a smoother transition to class for students.
Do not stop and park in the drop off zone (white curb). We need to keep that area clear during both drop off in the morning and pick up in the afternoon. Thank you for helping us keep drop off smooth and safe.
I also realized that folks may not have my email address. It is afry@piedmont.k12.ca.us. Reach out if you have questions or concerns. We are all in this together.
In partnership,
Amy Fry

Mileage Club Changes
We are excited for the 2nd year of the Wildwood Mileage Club. This year we will meet at Witter from 7:50-8:15 on WEDNESDAYS. The first mileage club of the year will be on 8/20.
Medication at School
For a student to have any medication at school, the school office must have a Piedmont Unified School District Medication Form completed and signed by both a parent/guardian and your health care provider on file.
This includes both prescription and over-the-counter medications. Medications must be in their original container, labeled by a pharmacist as required.
Medications will be kept in the office and administered per the doctors instructions, unless it is determined and documented by both the physician and parent/guardian that the student may self-carry the medication. Medication forms are valid for one calendar year.
If you have any questions, please email the District Nurses at nurses@piedmont.k12.ca.us
Parents Club Update
Thank you to all who attended the Volunteer Faire on Monday — it was wonderful to see so many new and familiar faces after dropoff!
WPC is off to a running start with volunteer signups, and we are so grateful. The following vacancies still need your help:
- Room parents for Peri, Chan, Ellis, Wong and Swernoff classes
- Lunchtime volunteer coordinator and lunchtime volunteers: sign up here (1-5) or here (K)
- Traffic-safety coordinators at morning dropoff! (SignUp Genius coming soon; in the meantime, please email us that you are interested!)
Additional volunteers are ALWAYS welcome for WPC's many other programs as well. From Site Council to Library to Belonging Committee to Harvest Festival -- there is something for everyone!
Please join us next Weds., Aug. 20, for WPC’s first meeting of the school year! It will be held from 7-8pm, with a social beforehand at 6:40pm, in the Wildwood Library.
An agenda will be posted in next week’s Whatnot; if you’re a go-getter and would like a preview before then, let us know by joining our mailing list.
Looking forward!
