End of Day Pick Up Policy End of Day Pick Up Policy

If you are picking up your child early from school, please be aware that the cutoff time for pick ups is now 2:45pm. The only exception to this is if you have an emergency situation, otherwise, we ask that you wait for the school day to finish.

If you are changing how your student is going home from school (ex: taking the bus instead of parent pick up) please make sure to call the office and relay any changes before 2:00pm.

Please keep in mind that, with 750 students in our school, the end of the day is a very busy time for students, teachers and staff and last minute requests for pick ups and transportations changes can create issues with getting kids to the right place at the end of the day.

Thank you for your cooperation and partnership.

Is your child well enough to go to school? Is your child well enough to go to school?

Regular attendance at school is critical for your child’s learning, engagement, and well-being at school. It can be tricky as a parent to know whether to keep your child home from school when they wake up with a stomach ache, a runny nose, a sore throat, or other mild symptoms of illness.

Wondering when to keep your child home due to illness? Here are our general guidelines:

If your student:

  • Has a fever of 100° degrees or more, they should stay home for 24 hours after the temperature returns to normal without fever reducing medication.

  • Has vomited or has had diarrhea, the student should stay home until 24 hours after the last episode.

  • Has a rash that may be disease-related or the cause is unknown, check with their health care provider before sending your student to school.

Wondering about when you might want to take a student into the clinic? You can find information about common infectious conditions here: Is My Child Well Enough To Go To School?

And we’re here to help! We have Health Office staff at the ready should your child become ill during the school day or to help with questions.

All students are offered one breakfast and one lunch meal at no cost each day at school as part of the Minnesota Free School Meals Program. Although no application is required to receive this meal benefit, filling out the Application for Educational Benefits is still important and households need to apply for Educational Benefits each school year.

Families who qualify are eligible for many great benefits, such as reduced (or free) fees on sports and activities, college application fees, transportation, community programs and more. Watch the video below to learn more and apply at mvpschools.org/reducedfees.

Riding the Bus and Food/Drink

While riding the bus, students are expected to keep all food and drink in their backpacks. This expectation prevents choking incidents, exposure to life-threatening allergens, and promotes bus sanitation.

Building Security Procedures

A visitor screening system helps track visitors and volunteers at each school, providing a safe and monitored environment for students and staff. When parents come to pickup their child(ren), or visitors check in, they will be asked to present a valid state issued ID for entering into the system.

Phone Numbers/Staff Directory

Staff phone numbers and email addresses are available on the Bel Air Website at: Bel Air Staff. To reach a teacher via email: firstname.lastname@mvpschools.
